http://www.flickr.com/photos/j effwiden/2763409110/ In celebration of the automobile, and as prelude to the Woodward Dream Cruise (starting today) and Grand Prix next weekend, the Henry Ford Museum is offering free Model-T (and other Model Ford cars) rides around Cadillac Square Park this afternoon. Go down there and give it a try. Fun... |

(I just had a daydream) CARJACKER STEALS CLASSIC CAR DETROIT -- In a daring mid-afternoon crime, an unidentified man strolled into Cadillac Square, where the Henry Ford Museum was offering free Model T rides, pushed aside a driver, and puttered off in a black 1916 Model T Ford vehicle. A low-speed chase ensued, with Detroit police scout cars pulling alongside and ordering the man to stop. He repeatedly tooted a horn before driving between two buildings where police couldn't give chase. The whereabouts of the vehicle remain unknown at this time. Anybody with information is urged to call authorities ... |

There's no way a typical carjacker could steal a Model T. Most Car thieves can't handle a modern Manual transmission. How in the hell would they handle the Model T's shift set up. The brake, accelerator and transmission controls of a model T are very different from todays setup. |

Haha. It was just a daydream. But I think we in Detroit have the history, the knowledge, and the drive to do anything we put our mind to, including carjacking a Model T. ;) |

I know it was just a daydream. However, I thought your daydream was giving the carjackers way too much credit. I doubt most of them could start a car if it wasn't already running, That's why they resorted to carjacking. |

Breaking update: There is a suspect in the case, an Ndavies, who has demonstrated an ununsual knowledge of Model T transmissions. This places him in only a pool of 5 other people in the area capable of committing the crime. |
