Well, looks like the copper scavengers have hit. Why did Agave close anyway? Had good Margaritas. (Message edited by Westsiiiide on August 22, 2008) |

DETROIT, open season for scrappers. Maybe Jenny should sell scrap licenses to willing entrepreneurs. |

Agave reportedly closed because of a lease disagreement. Many of the owners and ex-employees are still involved in the area. A couple opened there own establishment, went back to school, or moved to jobs in the CBD. Speaking of former restaurants... What ever happened to Intermezzos? I thought it was supposed to reopen. |

Maybe the door was legitimately open? Veteran restaurateur Raymond Wong is planning to put a modern Chinese restaurant in the former Agave / Stewart's / Alexander's / Gregory's space according to Crain's special edition 'Living and Investing in the D'. Hopefully he will have the legs to stick it out. I never understood why that location didn't work better. It has great location, parking and a very pleasant rear patio. |

Ran into Ray the other night, and he told us it would be realistically two months before the full opening, he's got a bunch of cleanup and building work to do in that space. |

No, that building is in horrible shape. Agave did a great job hiding the problems. |

Raymond Wong? Wasn't he the guy that's left a trail of horrendous business dealing before in the past- stemming from his failed eatery in Windsor to the pairing up with Jimmy Schmidt and the place in Woodward that once housed the Jukebox? He seems to lend his name to a lot of places but has the staying power of a hobo. And wasn't he somehow involved with the Asian Village dealings too? |

Yeah, what is the deal with that location? I ate at Stewart's and Agave and found both excellent and not empty, but maybe the restaurants just didn't do well. (Wasn't there also a restaurant at that location called Canfield's?) Then again, I've heard rumors on here that the landlord is the problem. If the building is in really bad shape, according to Sean, maybe there is some truth to the landlord being the issue. If that really was the case, however, then why do nice restaurants keep going there? Why wouldn't they find another location in downtown or midtown? Anyone have the lowdown? |

I've been wondering for quite a while; "whatever happened to Intermezzo" in Harmony Park also. It seems like it's been closed at least for a couple of years. A nice bar and good food |

Same story as all the restaurants in Detroit. Not enough business, foot traffic, to support the expenses. It's a tough enough business alone without all the other crap one has to deal with ie gov't. crap. |

Haven't been there in years. Good Margaritas and bean soup. A dear friend did the murals, bridge, decorations in the patio. Last time there, we noticed most of the wood cutouts that were part of the murals had been removed. We wish the new management luck! |
