Not sure if anyone has used this. http://www.zillow.com/ You type in the address to a place and it'll tell you the worth of that place and the houses around it, and which are for sale. You can just type in Detroit in the city part to browse. Not trying to be negative, but it's depressing seeing houses that are still standing that cost $3,000 and $8,000. |

that's a lot more than $1. but really, zillow is a terribly inaccurate resource. any improvements to the home since the purchase are not counted, nor are any "intangibles." it's probably WORSE than an actual appraisal, since it gives a number without anything to back it up. what's depressing is that homes going for $3000 are still actually standing. |

Just for kicks, I typed in the address of the home that my folks moved into in 1950 in Roseville. Dad passed away in 1983 and I owned it until 2001 when I sold it to my son. He sold it in early 2006 for about $123,000 and we all know where the market has gone since then. Zillow lists the value at $143,500. |

My house was listed at $63,000. It was bought for $300 at a city auction. $5000 is an extremely high price to ask for it today. |
