Anyone know what was burning late last night/early this morning? Roomie said he could see it from the front porch around 2-2:30 am and had gone out because he could smell it. Had the windows open last night and can still smell it today.

Yes - kind of figured that ;) Just wondered if anyone had any info - as in when the apts burnt down and there was a need for people to "pitch in". We don't always do that as well as the folks closer to campus/in Woodbridge and figured it the word got out, it'd be here.

It looked more like Brush Park area.. Couldn't see any flames, but the smoke seemed to be coming from east of Woodward and north of 75, from my window at Kales.

It was in the Brush Park area. It is a building on John R that looks like an old fire house or school. It woke me up at 2:30 a.m.

It was in Brush Park on John R. It is a building that looks like an old fire station or school. It woke me up at @:30 a.m. (had my windows up because it was so nice outside).

It was directly behind my condo. I live on the same block. One of those abandoned Victorian houses in Brush Park that used to have all those "Hipcityliving" signs on them. It looked like it completely engulfed the apartment building next to it on John R in smoke. I drove by it this morning to see the final damage, and it was done for. It is not salvageable.

What a shame, would be nice if we could hold the property owner accountable for a wide-open building that's a hazard to the neighborhood.

Thanks for the responses, all. My friend is new to the area and sometimes has a hard time narrowing down the neighborhood/area/etc. I *knew* someone here would know.
