If Dittrich furs closes up and pulls out of Detroit what should open in its place? How about a health food store-restaurant? Resale store. Made In USA store. Clothing and shoes (yes there are some) that are made in the USA by legally documented American workers. |

Terryh, would you prefer if Detroit just dropped dead? (as in every single building is abandoned, urban prairies & surface lots are everywhere & only the freaks are left) |

LOL at Farrer. Im not a guilty white liberal. Stop being so negative Detroitrise. Of course I dont feel that way.Detroit is coming back faster than I thought. During the Young and Archer administration, you couldnt have convinced me that downtown would have the lofts and nightlife it currently enjoys. Glad I was wrong. |

What a stupid name for a thread. Dittrich is staying unless Terryh can get Detroit to ban all 100 year old + stores, not owned by the Socialist Workers Party and the army of the welfare lobby who are also animal free and vegan. Defenders of the poor who spend a great deal of time on expensive computers with internet service pontificating upon solutions. I think we are all falling for an off the wall series of comments getting us all to post. I guess I'm guilty. |

The Windsor Knot is a thick, wide and triangular tie knot that projects confidence. It would therefore be your knot of choice for presentations, job interviews, courtroom appearances etc. It is best suited for spread collar shirts and it's actually quite easy to do. While just about everyone can use this tie knot to tie his tie, it looks especially well on men with longer necks as its wide form shortens the perceived height of the neck a little bit. To tie the Windsor Knot, select a tie of your choice and stand in front of a mirror. Then simply follow the steps below: 1) The wide end "W" should extend about 12 inches below the narrow end "N". Cross the wide end "W" over the narrow end "N". 2) Bring the wide end "W" up through the loop between the collar and your tie; then back down. 3) Pull the wide end "W" underneath the narrow end "N" and to the right, back through the loop and to the right again so that the wide end "W" is inside out. 4) Bring the wide end "W" across the front from right to left. 5) Pull the wide end "W" up through the loop again. 6) Bring the wide end "W" down through the knot in front. 7) Using both hands, tighten the knot carefully and draw it up to the collar. Congratulations, you did it! You see, it is not rocket science after all. Simply keep practicing the Windsor Knot a few more times until you can tie this necktie knot within less than 30 seconds. |

Terry, if you feel so strongly about "made in the USA"... maybe you should start dating some American women, and stay away from some of those foreign "princesses" and "goddesses". And perhaps you should stop going to Windsor to buy those Italian shoes and slacks.... |

Ditrich is not leaving anytime soon. They're stubborn and are investing more in staying. |

(as in every single building is abandoned, urban prairies & surface lots are everywhere & only the freaks are left) That would be a start in rebuilding the city They were robbed 3 times, I would move If I owned the business. |

So they may have good business reasons for staying. I personally have no interest in furs whatsoever but it's nice to see something that actually stays in one place for many years in this region. |

But if they *did* leave and I had to pick something to replace it, it would be one of: * Dollar Daze * Dollar Mart * Family Dollar * Dollar Castle * Dollar King & More * Dollar Queen & Then Some * I'd Buy That For A Dollar |

I'll say it before someone else does: Cheesecake Factory. (No, i don't really wanna see one open up; unless of course, they agree to incorporate Dittrich's 70s era "fur coats and horses on ski slopes" ad footage) Seriously though, my answer would be "whatever the cockroaches decide to open in it's place". I say that because the only way Dittrich will leave Detroit is if the city gets nuked. (Message edited by border5150 on August 27, 2008) |
