This is a pretty strange interview to promote the Volt. Lutz seems so luke-warm on the car that he's basically saying it will only appeal to ugly hippie women, won't get you laid, drives slow and then he goes on to denounce the existence of global warming. Way to insult your core demographic. You've got a revolutionary new vehicle that consumers are excited about, is supposed to save the company and is made in the United States yet this is your sales pitch? GM: Dragged kicking and screaming into the future! http://www.colbertnation.com/t he-colbert-report-videos/18502 1/september-17-2008/bob-lutz |

I'll have to watch...but the tone of that show is always sarcastic. If Lutz was serious then he is awfully lame and a poor promoter. |

Lutz has been telling everybody that the car WILL get you laid, so this is clearly satire or something... |

Bob Lutz brought GM the revived GTO, the revived Camaro, and the retro pickup / hotrod SSR. Two of which bombed, the third too new to tell. Basically, Lutz is bringing back the vehicles he was hot on back in 1965 when he was a young auto employee. He really doesn't give a damn about new technology. I really wish the road rags would stop referring to him as a "Car Guy" and start calling him a "Vintage Car Guy". |

Bob Lutz looked and acted like a smug, fairly bright, comedic, neanderthal, auto executive. I don't know how I strung that together, but I did. I hope readers get my point. Lutz is not a good face to put on the auto industry. Especially for another saviour automobile. The Volt has gotten more press for the domestic auto industry and it isn't even available. Between lobbying to beat back auto mileage improvement and promoting cars that are far in the future, it's no wonder the Big Three are in the shape they're in. Toyota will eventually cheaply take over at least one of the Big Three, chew it up, spit it out, keeping a few parts and disposing of the rest. And make money in the process. |

Way to look at the glass half empty Enduro! You obviously took this statement way out of context, Colbert is a comedy show, the Volt is a gas sipping eco sedan. GM has a whole slew of head turning "Sexy" products like the Corvette, Sky, Escalade, etc. Bob Lutz has no idea how to get laid using an automobile because he doesn't need to. Also, he didn't say "ugly" he said "no makeup". The Volt is all about being green and saving energy. It's not a curvaceous 500hp super sedan or roadster. "Global Warming" is a myth promoted by socialist tree hugging hippies like Gore and Pelosi. |

Photo taken at Willow Run. His jet passed over yesterday or day before. It's the loudest one at Willow Run. Louder than the Yankee Air Force bombers and the Blue Angels. It's still a thrill to watch and hear. |

Okay, Doma. You're welcome to fit the bill for the bailout loans the big three are begging for if they're so smug and clever. |

I don't think he was all that bad. Everyone Colbert brings on is a little uncomfortable in that setting, that's what makes it so much fun. I always kinda feel sorry for whoever's sitting down for the interview. I loved the 40 mile extension cord comeback. The women without makeup unfortunately was sad true but honest. |

It seems Colbert is the jerk in this situation but, Sarcasm is the primary motif. IMO, it looks like Lutz is making an attempt to promote a car that is revolutionary and, probably, a hard sell to the chest-beating crowd. I thought he did a good job of explaining the advantages and capabilities, but got uneasy when Colbert decided to focus on the inconsistencies of his political philosophies when compared to realities. Basically, I say ashame on you Colbert for taking it too far (right) and missing an opportunity to promote innovation, common sense, efficiency and a way to help putting Detroit back to work. I say, good job, Mr. Lutz, but you may still have some work to do proving that you really believe in what you are pushing. |

I dont catch Cobert all that often, not as often as Id like anyway but I believe Peach, hes always been tongue in cheek with his right wing stance. In the end, its always the republicans who look silly. At the very least hes just trying to make fun of everything. Ive always seen him as poking fun at the fatcats by way of bringing light to the way everyday right wingers think. I think thats the beauty of his show, you almost cant tell where Colbert stands, but honestly it seems pretty obvious to me. Please dont tell me Im wrong. I love his show. Way to totally miss the point and "the joke" of Colbert's show Peachlaser. Django, no need to worry about being wrong, you're not. Colbert is a master satirist. So good that sometimes you can miss it if you don't watch his show all the time. He can unleash scathing indictments of the Bush Administration and the current McCain Palin ticket all the while painting it as if he is a right wing pundit. I think the guy and his show are both brilliant. |

Mikea, I can lay satire on as thick as anyone and can see the joke. If I saw a child in pain and there was a doctor there trying to help, I would not be laying the satire onto the doctor questioning his techniques while the child lay there suffering. For the sake of being funny, Colbert probably would. I like Jon Stewart's humor style much better and think he is consistently more funny. |
