It's hard to believe that Topol didn't win the Best Actor award for Fiddler on the Roof in 1971. If you can't go to the Opera House, see the movie. He was fantastic.
By the way, the winner was Gene Hackman, French Connection.

As great an actor as Hackman is, I agree that Topol should have won for that particular role. After all, French Connection was basicly just an action film. A comment about Hackman by the late Jerry Reed: "He don't act.He just shows up and he bees."
