The Piston / Orlando series seems like it's going to be a cake walk, but does Detroit have the Eastern Conference locked down? |

Was it just me, or did the Pistons look lethargic yesterday during the first playoff game against the Magic. Passes were erratic and entire play didn't seem focused. |

It's hard for good teams to gear up to play bad teams. The 2nd round should be the most challenging for the Pistons. Neither the Bulls nor the Magic are to be taken lightly. Unless Flip truly is an incompetent idiot, Pistons should have no problem making it to the finals. |

Wow... too much sports on this Saturday! Wings win one. The NFL Draft. The Pistons sweep and it barely gets a huff but do get high congratulatory high marks. They were the better team and should've swept. Let's see if the defending (koff koff) champs, Miami can avoid getting broomed by da Bulls tomorrow. That would make for one heckuva good series that I don't think anyone could've predicted... it'd be like the Pistons of old taking on the Bulls. Wow. |

The Bulls worry me a bit. They seem to have the answer for the Pistons. The question is, now that it's the playoffs, will the Pistons be able to step up and school them on how it's done on the big stage, like they did every time Orlando sacked up and made a run. |

Pistons in five. The Bulls are going to have to do more than win one playoff series against an old and injured (Wade) team to impress me. The last thing the Pistons want is Ben Wallace to get over on them. They'll be fired up for this one. |

Every time Chicago beat us this year, one of our starters were not playing. If everyone stays healthy, I say Pistons in 6. If someone gets injured..... the jury is out. |

From the Chicago Tribune:
quote:...[T]he Palace of Auburn Hills is a monument to unruly behavior. It's funny, because I remember hearing during one of the playoff games about the "brawl at the Palace between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons". It's funny how people's memories get a bit selective. |

Warriors upset the Mavericks, how does this affect us if we make it to the finals? Does anyone think we will have an easier time of it now? I say that Golden State beats either the Rockets or the Jazz, but then looses in the conference finals. That means that we will prolly face either San Antonio again or Phenoix. Thoughts on either of those matchups? |

The Pistons have had a good amount of success vs. San Antonio and Phoenix, both 1-1 records I think. And the 1 loss the Phoenix was when Billups was out. It's Golden State that I would fear. They beat the crap out of the Pistons twice by 30 points a game. |

Golden State won't be able to keep that up through the Finals. They have no bench, and Baron Davis may or may not be okay. I'd be willing to bet they literally left it on the floor against Dallas, and won't make it out of the next round. Great story, but they just had to try SO hard, I'm not sure how much they'll have left. |

Chitaku, there was one foul called in the 2nd. Rip Hamilton shot the 1st Piston free throws with about 2 seconds left in the half. I remember the ESPN announcer pointing that out. Talk about a rollercoaster game. I was impressed that the Pistons hung tough and stayed close after the 1st quarter emotion of the Bulls. Then I was pissed off at how horribly the Pistons played in the 2nd. Then I was laughing at how fast that 19 point lead turned to dust. Then, I actually felt sorry for the Bulls. How the hell did they blow the game so quickly? I can understand the Pistons catching them mid to late 4th quarter, but within the same 3rd quarter the Bulls led by 19 and then by 1. The 4th quarter actually seemed like the 2 games at the Palace. I never felt like the Bulls had a chance. |

I think the Pistons were still down 15ish deep in the 3rd quarter, when the announcers said something along the lines of "...and still, you just the sense that these Pistons are not rattled." |

Why did Flip Saunders not use the bench more last night? It worked the first three games. Why change after that? Maxiel and Delfino and others should have gotten in the game early to relieve the starters. No way Billups should have still been in the game after his third foul. Bad coaching or just hot shooting? Last night was an embarassment. I won't even bother watching the Pistons game six and waste my time like I did last night. Hopefully, they can win game seven at home. |

The Pistons just don't get it. Chauncey Billups said "they just have to get locked in", NO SHIT!!! That should be a given. Of all things in life, the most important thing is to be focused and locked in. Talent means nothing without focus and effort. And please Chauncey, Mr. Second Team All Defense last year.... stay in front of someone at least some of the time! That arrogance is the reason why they haven't won more than the one championship. I don't see a historical collapse just yet but given what's already happened in the playoffs (Dallas, Miami & the current Spurs/Suns series) I wouldn't be surprised if the Pistons lose. |

I can criticize effort and intensity all I want and I stand by my criticism. Billups even said after game 5 that they don't play well with a cushion, winning this series doesn't necessarily change that. That will not fly in the Finals, and I still feel like that's what killed the Pistons last year. |

Besides, like I said in my previous post this playoff season has had some crazy things happen. So, a team coming back from 3-0 to go along with the #1 team in the league getting beat in the 1st round, and the defending champs getting swept in the 1st round could seem likely. |

Even though I think you are a choker Ohudson, you "may" be right about the Pistons not winning the finals. They are missing the killer instinct and let the Bulls hang on far too long in the last 2 minutes while seemingly totally disinterested in playing defense. THAT WILL NOT WORK AGAINST THE SPURS!!! |

Pistons in five. Grant Hill was on the ESPN pregame the other day and talked about how the Pistons hate the Cavs. It centered on how the Pistons think that the Cavs are over-hyped because of Lebron. Hill is still close with many of the Pistons (Hunter) so he's not pulling that comment out of his ass. Also assistant coach Ron Harper has talked about their dislike for the Cavs. Hopefully it's more than talk and they give the Cavs a good Detroit bitch-slapping. |

Well, I can deal with the "Beat Detroit" t-shirts a heckuva lot better than the stupid and weak "Detroit Sucks" chants I've heard at out of town hockey games. While it might not be the most innovative, it speaks to what our opponents want to do with us. The way I look at it is that we're THAT good. Now when I see "Beat the Knicks" t-shirts being handed out, it'll be a laffer. That's almost a given at times. |
