Nice win. Good to see Verlander go out and look solid even after the rain delay.

Hell yeah. Unfortunately they didn't make up any ground, but at least they seem to be "back to normal"

Let's start a long streak now with a single game v. Toronto and then Texas coming to down, after today's big win.

Congratulations to Curtis Granderson. 20 HRs, 20 3B, 20 2B, and 20 steals.

Man, Granderson is on fire. Another HR. This game is turning into a crap shoot.

We can only keep our fingers crossed for Bondo that it's not too serious. He throws with some pretty decent velocity and I hope this injury isn't going to keep him down too much. With any luck it'll just give him some time to rest it for the >gulp< post season(?).

They knew something about a possible injury before this game, right? We could have at least started someone else so that Bonderman didn't cost us an important game.

I think that Dombrowski, Leyland and the rest of the Tigers brain trust knew something was amiss with Bonderman but then I'm willing to bet that practically all of the Tigers are a little dinged up this time of the year. To a certain degree they also have to trust a player and his feeling towards how his body is. It's a shared responsibility to know when to not play. It's a tough call because all of those guys have been competitors for so long too.

Tomorrow's double-header already had them searching for a 6th starter this week.

What a game tonight. What a shot in the arm for the Detroit Tigers administered by Magglio Ordonez. I haven't seen Jim Leyland smile that much, and run that fast since last years ALCS when Maggs Hit that homerun. The magic is blowing in with the autumn air that we are getting this week. What a great time to be in Detroit.

Talk about character...being able to scrap like that against a stud pitcher like Halladay is something. Leyland has every reason to be smiling. Let's hope our softer schedule will be helpful in picking up some games against the Yankees and maybe even the Indians.

Too bad they got their teeth kicked in today. It's not over yet, but it's going to be a white-knuckle September.

Thank you for taking one in the chops, Yankees. Thank you Toronto for doing our dirty work on our day off.

Boston is worthless. Way to blow the lead last night. The next two days will be huge; we have to do our part.

Well it looks as though the BoSox did us a favor but more importantly, we took care of business in our own house. Going up against a fireballer like Santana is daunting and yet we managed to knick him up early. Phew!

Our team is focused now, that was a big sweep. With a Boston win tonight we have a whole new ballgame. Additionally, a sweep of Cleveland this week could bring us to within 1.5 games of the division.

What scares me is that the Yankees have the pathetic Orioles on the schedule coming up. I was hoping that the BoSox would help our cause out a little bit by beating down on them. For me to hope the O's can clobber the Yanks is going to be a bit much. The Tigers are doing what they can to stay in the thick of it all but to count on another team losing can be maddening.

Remember though, the Orioles have had the Yankees number this year. NY is 4-8 against Baltimore, and they have 6 more against them.

Goddamnit. I'm not ruling anything out, but that win pretty much summed up the season. All the luck, all the karma, all the "mojo" is in Cleveland this year, just like it was here last year. Might just not be our year.

Yep, that one may be the death blow. The truly sickening part is that it was not so much the Indians winning the game as it was the Tigers losing it.
The Tigers are a helluva team, they win a lot of games, and provide many exciting moments, but when the whole bag of cookies is on the line, they drop it. It happened in the World Series, and it pretty much happened tonight.
Loving the Tigers, as much as I do, doesn't impair my ability to see the truth. Maybe I'd be better off if it did, but it doesn't.

Well, the Tigers pitching sucks, especially the bull pen. Even the big Z ain't really much worth a shit.

Yep. That one, Monday night, did it. Tonight's grim affair merely verified the conclusion I felt, sadly, last night.

Ouch... I'm not one to slam the last nail in the coffin just yet, but last night's performance really gets the casket door inching closer & closer. The Yankees are playing out of their minds against a Baltimore team that's hopeless so the odds of us evven catching a break is going to be slim. Mathematically we're just running out of games to play in order to catch up.

Either way- it's been one heckuva fun run with this team.
