Let's give some recognition to the first Public School League team to make it to the state championship in 16 years. Sounds like they've been on an impressive run. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.d ll/article?AID=/20071117/UPDAT E/711170420 |

That is truly amazing considering how spread out the PSL talent is...obviously due to the many schools through-out the City. Hypothetically, if you could condense many of the area's students to a hand full of schools, the PSL would play for the state championship year in year out. |

King is the best run program in the PSL, hasn't had a losing season since 1979. Congrats to the Crusaders |

The reason that King excels where other DPS teams don't is that King has great coaches that really emphasize utilizing fundamentals and technique and not just natural athletic ability. As someone who has broken down film of a few DPS players, outside of King, you see a lot of guys with PHENOMENAL athletic ability but awful form and technique. The combination of talent and coaching is what makes King such a great team. |

Congrats to King. Reynolds probably should have won it in either 89 or 90 when he went to the finals. Hopefully he will get it done this year. If they win, this will truly be a history making day for PSL athletics. However if King doesn't get it done we might see another 17 years before another PSL team makes it to the finals. |

Nicely done and something to be proud about. Sure, credit goes to the coaching staff and the players but a huge shout out to the parents and family who've supported this program as well. it wouldn't have been possible without them. |

The reason why this was a significant event is if you follow high school sports and the message boards that talk high school sports, Detroit kids and their coaches get slammed all of the time for being undiscipline and lacking in preparation and fundamentals. Some of the people on those message boards thought it would never happen given those reasons. People would give the city kids credit for being talented but not being able to function as a team. Our kids, especially DPS kids get marginalized whether its academics or sports. It was good to see them make the naysayers eat there words. |

All the more reason to be behind MLK. Those naysayers, probably stuck in an anti-city mindset anyway, can shove it now. |

YAY! Way to go MLK High School. First DPS High School to win the Michigan State Divisional Championship. That will show those suburban schools. |
