We know they can't win with what they have these past two years. What do you do now?
Chauncey's contract is up. Do you resign him or turn over the back court to the young buck?
The team took too many nights off in the playoffs and that's just not right.
R. Wallace has got to go. His act has gone stale and he seems like more of a distraction than a motivating force.
Prince looked like a evolving super star and now he looks ordinary too often.
Dumars has a lot of decisions to make. Time for him to really earn his money now.

Billups re-signed long-term last summer.

You're right, Paul...the time has come for Joe D to make some major moves. I'd keep Rip and Chauncey, along with Stuckey and Maxiel.

McDyess might have another year or two in him if he decides he wants to stick around, but not as a starter.

Dump Tayshawn and Sheed for whatever they can get while they still have some trade value.

Dumars will also need to get Mr. Davidson to open up his checkbook and sign at least 2 quality front court players as free agents (if such an animal exists).

If Joe D plans on keeping the majority of the core group around then Flip must go ! Flip is a decent coach but not for this group. Chauncey needs to stay because points guards don't grow on trees. Rip needs to stay because of his scoring.
Joe needs to find a backup to Tay that is good enough to actually challenge him and take some of his minutes and make him trade bait. Sheed has a expiring contract next year. Try to package that along with some draft picks and get him out of here.
Play the young guys extended minutes and see if Amir, Affalo and Samb can play.

Bottom line if the Pistons don't score more easily by either getting someone who can create his own shot or a penetrate and dish guard or a big guy who doesn't mind playing in the paint this is about as far as they will get.

Live by the jump shot .. die by the jump shot.

Those low percentage shots will kill you over time unless you can make some inside shots when you absolutely need points. Hoping and praying for threes to save you is not a smart way to play.
