Pittsburgh calling US cheap?

I can't help but think of the Russian coach from the 1980 Olympics every time they show the Pittsburgh coach standing behind the bench.

Actually this series reminds me of some of those games.

Except this is not a "miracle".

This series reminds me of The Wings first Stanley Cup final in decades. We finally got there and were thrilled and cocky, then got swept and dominated by the Devils. The roles are reversed now, we are a strong willed, experienced team. The Pen's are young and truly out classed.

Not sure why there is so much hatred for the commentators.

Mike Emrick is considered a world-class broadcaster, has DEEP knowledge of both teams, and lives in St. Clair Shores. So, I dont think he is a Wing hater.

Now Engblom and Jones - maybe. But really, with their hair, who gives them any credibility :-)

This is the Stanley Cup finals which is tantamount to WAR! You're either with us, or against us.

Stupid.

I have heard rumors that Joe Vision would be back for tomorrow and Saturday. Has anyone heard anything more about this?

Fire Alarm went off at 1:30 am Monday at the MGM Grand. Good news twice because it awoke the Penguins (obviously not for long) and, unlike Dallas, they're staying downtown.

Maybe Mario Lemieux will suit up for game 3, they need him.

MGM grand says a sensor broke in a different part of the building, starting the alarm. No foul play or prank, according to MGM Execs.

Just good timing...

I wonder if the Wings experienced any "strange" happenings.

I'm sure these pro teams have experienced this sort of prankish behavior to a certain degree over the years already.

I still remember when the Avalanche stayed at the Athenium years ago and were constantly being pestered by rabid loyal Wings fans. It happens.

Depressing game tonight. Wings looked slow or tired in the first period, or maybe the kids in black were that pumped up. Pens weren't flitting around so fast in the third. A little more time and the Wings would've caught them.

Lilpup, I think your observation is dead-on right. Wings might be a bit tired and the Pens absolutely needed this game. Pittsburgh had to do what they had to do in order to survive. Detroit did what it needed to initially by winning both of their home games. Game four will be the good one. The questions that will arise are:

Will Detroit steal one at Pittsburgh?
Can Pittsburgh maintain its intensity?

It'll be fun nevertheless.

Detroit was outplayed yesterday, but not by much.

Will game 4 be interesting? Yes.

For me, it will only be remembered as fun if Detroit wins.

Thank you NBC (I'm in VA. w/o VS). Enjoyed every minute of it, but not the outcome. Go Wings Go!

Finally an exciting game. Two turnovers on D ended up in our net, that was the difference. Lilja scares me. Rather see Cheli in, can't believe I'm saying that. So we get another home game and a chance to win cup on home ice. Wings in 5.

Plural, I guess, Royce.

Geez, I sure hate these NBC announcers. That Pierre LaFooFoo or whatever his last name is has to be the worst I've ever heard.

Where's Foster Hewett or Budd Lynch when ya really need him? :-)

Whew. That was nerve-wracking, especially during the five on three. Great penalty killing.

Monday should be the day of celebration.

The last 10 minutes of that game will likely be what will win us the cup. The big time penalty kill followed by great puck control and stout defense (led by Zetterberg). Good stuff!

Not that I'm willing to declare total victory just yet and start making a bee line for the parade route, but I think this series' Conn Smyth winner is far from certain. Is it going to be Zetterberg? Osgood? Maybe even Datsyuk? And if he was really healthy through all of the playoffs, I'd even say Franzen.

Any of the loyal Wings' fans here want to speculate??

Tough call but I'm gonna say Ozzie. Came in as a backup and has been spectacular at times. Any goalie will tell you that the team defense makes their job easier, and thats the case here as well. So the Conn Smythe to Osgood would honor the entire teams defense. Last Wing goalie to win it was Roger Crozier I think in 66, won it despite losing the cup to Montreal.

What about Mike Vernon in '97?
