We have to defend our own. I'm kind of old for physical violence these days but I am well armed!

The slackers must be hard at work today. I am - getting my sidecar rig ready to take off for 2 weeks starting next Tuesday.

EB: Check the radar if you're coming this way, we've got some bad stuff coming through for the next week or so. Be safe

I got a really cool 1930's map of Detroit from a guy named Hornwrecker on another thread, and I posted the portion with the old 'hood on SJS Facebook.
Take a look when you get a chance.
I've got the rest of it if anyone wants to see any other sectors of the D

EB, Duluth is far enough on a bike. Last time I traveled any distance on the back of one was only up to Rose City, and my legs shook for two hours.

I covered about 12,500 miles last year. I'm doing this trip by myself but my wife makes 2 - 3 trips a year with me. That's why we have sidecars on 2 of the bikes. She's not too happy for long periods riding pillion. She can read, even play with her computer in the sidecar. The big one even has a removable hard top.
The sidecar rigs are great for camping. I can bring all the creature comforts.

What Z said is true. I wore my same shirt (freshly washed) and cap from Saturday's away game win, and not my jersey and signed cap that failed us on Monday. Continency plans in place in case we fell behind were thankfully unnecessary. Baby aspirins and 911 on speed dial were at the ready.

Time to put on your thinking caps on. On Kelly Road 1 block north of Merit Drugs there was another drug store. I know it changed names quite few times after say 1970 or so, but do any of you remember the original name of that store?

CFG here - hope someone likes long scarfs for winter, the faster the pace of the game, the faster the needles flew. There should be a local - and/or national holiday - the day after the Stanley Cup --there outta be a law!!
Z, I remember the store too, but not the name. The only ones coming to mind are Supreme Drugs and Revco, but those were on Hayes.

I just came up with Quick Save for the drug store, but I don't think that was the original name it may have had a Chatham reference first.

I just came across this on the Arch Diocese web site. He celebrated his 65th year as a priest with a mass for him and other celebrants on May27th of this year.

Msgr. Thomas H. Villerot

Msgr. Villerot, 90, was born in Detroit, and attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and the Catholic University of America, as well as earning a master's degree from the University of Detroit.

He was ordained May 29, 1943, and celebrated his first Mass at St. Agnes Church, Detroit.

Msgr. Villerot served as assistant pastor at: St. Joseph Parish, Erie (1943-47); St. Catherine Parish, Detroit (1947-52); St. Lawrence Parish, Detroit (1952); and St. Mary Parish, Royal Oak (1952-57).

In 1957 he was appointed to the faculty of Sacred Heart Seminary; and was later named pastor of St. Martin Parish, Detroit (1965-70). He also served as pastor of St. Jude Parish, Detroit (1970-79), during which time he was vicar of the Gratiot Vicariate (1971-73).

Msgr. Villerot was pastor of St. Valerie of Ravenna Parish, Clinton Township, from 1979 until he was granted senior priest status in 1987.

He returned to St. Mary Parish, Royal Oak, as temporary administrator from September to December 1989. He was appointed to the archdiocesan College of Consultors (1990-92), and was named a prelate of honor to His Holiness (monsignor) in March 1990.

Fr. Villerot is a good man and an excellant priest. Fr. Ording was a very hard act to follow and Fr. Villerot made it easier for all that followed him.
