Hi Laing, welcome to the thread. If you have memorabilia that you want to share, we have set up Facebook accts, and there is one out there for St. Jude Church. If you have an account, check out the St. Jude Roman Catholic Church page, and see some of what's posted.

Kellyroad, yes, I remember Connie Pelkey - think she was 2-3 years older than me. Dennis Wrosch doesn't sound familiar. I lived about 8 houses north of Casino on the same side as the Pelkeys - I remember going to Mrs. Pelkey's visitation at Sommers. I will have to get my info on St. Jude that I have - some interresting stuff. I always remember Fr. Eckart who was the scout chaplin coming out to campouts at either D-A or Chas Howell camps to say mass for the many - always did it and I seem to remember he caught flack from someone at the church saying he wasn't where he was to have been. Had to show pictures taken of him. Ah, the days gone by. And, I do remember the "patio" between the hall to room 100 and the principal's office - got my first kiss there back in 1st grade. Be still my heart!

12468, I am really PARANOID about giving out any personal information on public forums like this, but I will tell you it was some time after the riots, and before the bi-centennial.

You mentioned lectoring. Do you remember a guy, middle age or older, not too tall, possibly greyish brown hair, who used to be one of the main lectors? I can still picture him, and even hear him saying the words: "The theeeeeme for today's Mass is..."

7andkelly, think i do remember him, and it looks like we were at sjs around the same time, give a year or 2. as a matter of fact, my graduation from there was the first one they did not play and sing, "let there be peace on earth". that song is still one of my favorites. and anyone remember roger joseph teaching 8th grade. was the only teacher i ever knew who allowed us to play pinochle after lunch instead of going outside.

I remember that song at my graduation, "Let there be peace on earth, la da da da da da da...." or something like that...a real heart tugger...I cried my eyes out...okay, I didn't, but many there did!

I prefer euchre to pinochle, as bowering as that might sound.

Floosie - the one you kissed,12468.....Mr. Joseph was always the "enforcer" to keep the boys in line - I remember a couple of "fist a cuffs" that he had to separate. He was no Mr. Dull....right JC?

12468, Cfg is right..."the one you kissed". No response required...I just had to get that line out there to share my hysterical laughter at the thought of asking it. Sometimes I crack myself up!

UR Welcome! No, lived on Faircrest bt Rex and Redmond. Yes, I remember a Mr. Kennedy - I think you must have been in my brother's class - he had him for a math if I'm not mistaken. Only one dictionary? Sr. Ellen Richard made you hold onto the whole Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedia!

Y, no one was a Carl Dull, just him. But, Mr. Joseph protected Ms. Poenessa from us just the same. 'Roger, they're disobeying again'

Thank you 7, I appreciate your sympathy, I truly do. I want you to know that I have unusually long arms, and have had trouble all my life finding sleeves that cover my wrist bones and fit everywhere else. It's just something to offer up, I guess

something from that math class of Mr. Kennedy - "a square is always a rectangle, but a rectangle is not always a square". i remember us debating that with him. saw a mention in past posts about Ms. Huget - had her too, and she taught us to say the abc's backwards - can still do that. always wanted a cop to ask me that if i was pulled over, but never had the chance.

12468 - Drink more. You'll get your chance.

Welcome to the Slackers thread. Seems you qualify since most of your posts today were during working hours.

12468, I concur with Eastburn. Drink long enough and you will get the opportunity. And, they just think you're a smart ass, they aren't impressed, at least in my case.
I think it was Sr. Daniel Michael who taught me to say them backward and forward. I can still do it.

12468, did you move to TN to work with Saturn? Lots of Detroit transplants down there, from what I've heard.

You won't qualify as a Slacker if you don't post from work. It's a term of honor around here.

Congrats on the son in the Academy. Something to be proud of. Mine's in the insurance business. Not quite the same thing.

no, met my fiance at allstate in southfield in 1981. economy stunk, her family was here, so we left and have enjoyed it since. there are alot of transplants here. don't hold it against me, but since nashville got the predators, my allegiance is with them. still have alot of good feelings about the wings - spent alot of time in ted lindsey's home, but ya gotta pull for where you hand your toothbrush
