I'm sure there would be nothing that anyone from our humble Catholic upbringing would come close to the worldly contributions of GB, ES, & OD. In fact just yesterday GB came up with a cure for cancer. ES solved the world hunger problem and OD well OD watched them. We bow in deference to them

Laing, I grew up on Maddelein between Redmond and Boulder. Went to SJS and graduated from there in 70. Went to Regina for 3 yrs, until the folks pulled me out and moved me to Almont for my final year in HS. After several moves in and out of Almont beginning in 83, finally lit there in 93 and have been there since. Seems like I've been on the 10 year plan. I don't know of any famous St. Judian's either. Hmmm. Got to be some. Other than the Holy Trinity over on Eastwood, that is.

KELLY ROde his car, a FORD. "HAM" is what we need as he headed EAST. "WOOD for the fire" he exclaimed to his companion SARA. "TOGA party tonight" he muttered. Sara replied "that's not FAIR". "CREST toothpaste is on our grocery list before we pick up LYNN". "HURTS doesn't it said Kelly. They all road silently down by the GLEN. "WOOD is still needed for the fire" Kelly interrupted as they continued their drive toward the CASINO. "If we stop here we'll have to PAY a TON just to get in. You know the DUCHESS hangs out there". With the beautiful WHITE HILLs in the background they continued their journey back to the Toga party with fresh ham and tooth paste. "You're just looking for MOR*&%^ at the toga party" Sara blubbered. Kelly, Sara, and Lynn parked the Ford after heading EAST. "BURN baby burn" Kelly blurted as he ignored Sara's emotional outcry while he fueled the fire with the recently purchased wood. Lynn CRUSADEd to redirect Kelly's attention toward her friend. "You know what you're doing is not FAIR. MOUNT your high horse and get of of town, and your better BRING a GUARD if you know what't good for you". "All right, all right, I understand what you STATE". "FAIR enough, I really didn't mean to hurt Sara". "MORe ANGer is not going to help anything". "You aint the LAPPIN dog I thought you were" Lynn said softly. "You must think I'm just a HARPER on good manners, don't you Kelly?" "Naw, it's just a big misunderstanding." "Let's all get out of here and get a Big MACk."You know you're treating me like a QUEEN" Sara said with a beaming smile. "I'm glad you like the big MAC. RARelY do I do something like this but that toga part had no ROSSSINI wine" Kelly replied sheepishly and laughed.

12468: Gary Short was in my class of 67 and also in Weblos together. His father was the Weblo leader. Bob was his younger brother by a year. They did have a nice house on Whitehill and Casino with a nice addition on back. Gary was always a class officer and involved in sports.
My involvement at SJS were the alter boys, cub scouts, minimal boy scouts and intramural basketball....got cut from the 8th grade team (there were 57 boys that tried out that fall) Besides I didn't know a cross over dribble from a lay up....but I was king of my own basketball court on Eastwood between Rex and Redmond....Life was real good in that neck of the woods by St. Jude. We could see the apex of the church out of my parent's bedroom and hear those wonderful bells three times a day. Graduated from NDHS in 71 went on to Pharmacy school, left the SJ area in the late 70s and doing hospital practice in the downriver area for almost 30 yrs. The Wyandotte area has its own rich history and many generations of families are still here. I'm about an hour away from the old hood. I've posed this question before, but since you're new it's fair game. Is there anyone you know that still lives within the St. Jude Parish boundary? There are parishioners that move and come back into the city but is there anyone that actually resides within the parish boundary? Curious

Jazzstage: I asked my wife if she remembered the guy (Dennis Wrosch) we sat with at the 1987 20 yr reunion party at the SJ gym. I mentioned what you said about the Rosary Murders. She said "Oh yea, he did mention something about being an extra in that movie" I guess someone wasn't paying attention.

12468: answer about celebrities from St. Jude: Dennis Wrosch as Sister Vania's beau in the Rosary Murders (1987)

Don't everyone rush out to rent the DVD all at once.

Is it out on DVD?
I saw it when it came out and I read the book. I love Donald Sutherland, so I liked the movie. Scenery shot in and around Detroit was great. Especially Kirk O' the Hills in W. Bloomy.
I read the next book in the series, Death Wears a Red Hat, also, and I thought they were going to make a movie of it, too. Does anyone know if they did?

Just did a search on Widipedia, and found out that Jack White of the White Stripes played and altar boy in the Rosary Murders when he was 12.
Interesting

JC & Z, +1 on defending the honor of eastside womanhood on th Denby thread. I think you may have actually gotten to them. Not sure what condition compels their blather. Of course, I only have a BA in psychology, not a PhD.

Thanks EB. We'd probably have to start a new thread to cover all the neurosis afflicting them.

EB.................thanks for saying it...its what took the fun out of all the East side threads................now, if we can concentrate on fun stuff like century old body parts encased in marble (St. Jude Relic)...the question remains........I'll be in the 'hood come Thursday (7/17) and will peak around for myself...........if anyone needs me to pick up some of those candies on paper (colored globs of sugar) or snaps (2 sigh........I just noticied...the cent symbol is gone!) at Georges' party time pantry,....send me $20 and I'll pick up some............

Speaking of my educational accomplishments, I actually dual majored in psych and sociology. With that degree & a buck you can get a cup of coffee in some places.

I'm here in West Branch doing a sociological study of the Harley Davidson culture. Having been at a BMW rally last month, I must say that the contrast is striking. While the costuming, alcohol consumption, recklessness and noise level is quite different the common denominator is a bunch of friendly folks having fun.

Have a great vaca CFG. 2 weeks without being connected. Don't know if I could handle that. Hope you can still listen to a Tiger game once in a while, even though they're not playing well right now.

CFG, in case you're still on, I'm leaving Tuesday for 12 days in Colorado, so I'll be having fun while you are, but I'll remain connected to some extent.
Also, Ruth said to thank you very much for going to St. Jude to light that candle

7, Ruth was also very impressed by the Spiritual Bouquet and said to thank you for all your efforts.
She says she still slurs when tired and her husband said she gets bitchy when tired so he's making her sleep a lot.

J, Votive candle is planned for tomorrow...should be some overlap with Cfg SJC one.

The act of kindness was a bit difficult, but I got through it.

Prayers for Ruth continue...thanks for the updates.

Ruth will remain in my prayers - so glad to hear she's doing well. Take care all!

CFG: HAve a great time. Be pack in 2 Weeks

7KID: make sure you walk the Eastwood route when going to George's. You may want to check the alleys for bottles to return...maybe you'll have enough for boxes of snaps (Don't need to change the methodology after 45 yrs)

JC: Continued prayers and positive thoughts to Ruth

Forgive me for being too lazy to go back through the thread and do my own research, but did we ever determine where the class pictures reside and what their eventual fate might be?
