This came out of the 67'Crown so it's not tied into SJS directly.

Here's a hint for KR: You're outstanding in your field.

Z: right now I feel left out....but I know there were different pharmacies at that location. I believe a Save-Mor drug store was there for a long time, but that would be after BENO.

I've been on a quest to find out what this drug store was before it was Quick-Save. I've asked the group many times and no one could come up with it. If you refer to JC's pics on FB it's "The other drug store" now an "R" Gang party store. I even called the store to see if they knew of the history (You can imagine how that went).

Maybe not that big of a deal to most but it was gnawing at me. Now I have to find something else to gnaw on. Another funny word - gnaw.

Etymology: Middle English gnawen, from Old English gnagan; akin to Old High German gnagan to gnaw

Z: Sorry. The Quick-Save (a Save-Mor franchise)was the last known business I knew of in that location. Merit Drugs(a block south)was my hang-out. Shows how provencial we can be....must have passed that store when BENOs hundreds of time on my way to and from ND and not have paid attention....but I'll let you know if any info arises ASAP

Hollywood Twins Cleaners
Kelly Beauty Shop
Milt's Ten Karat Cleaners
Roggers Printing
Sandles Bros. Service Station

There were 2 barber shops on Kelly. One was Clete's and the other was right where State Fair ended at Kelly on the H.W side. Anyone remember the name of that one? I should, because that's where I used to get my Princeton haircut at, but can't come up with the name if it. gnaw, gnaw, gnaw.

Get your bike out & go for a ride. Clears the head.

Doesn't it seem a little quiet around here without the gals?

Hey, JC. How was the train trip?

I've ridden to work everyday this week so far, that's a record considering the weather.

Don't tell JC what I told you about her okay?

My lips are sealed.

Very appropriate since this is "Ride to Work Day".

Guess I'd better go for a ride even if I don't work. It's kind of hard to get the Beemer up the stairs to the spare bedroom where I work (when I work).

Z - so what is that listing from? How could a business like Bishop Metals have been on Riad at that address? That address is between Morang and Moross - most likely between Casino and Moross. I remember the barber shop on Kelly, but can't remember the name either. Think there ended up being a pizza by the slice place there in the 70-80's.

laing: These are from a 67' Crown yearbook (Regina). These are businesses that sponsored their yearbook. I would assume this would have been a business that someone was running out of their garage. There are a few of them like that. Here's another:

The address on Riad was between Casino & Morang. When I was newly married (the 1st time) we bought the house at 12444 Riad, 2 or 3 houses north of Morang. The metal guy would have been just about right across the street from us. We were there in '67 & I sure don't remember anyone running that kind of a business. Come to think of it, he could have been some type of a broker or dealer who worked from home. Ahead of his time, I'd say.

I think you may be on to something.

Look at it this way, you KNOW you'll ride today. I won't unless I take my chances dodging deer if I ride to our campfire meeting tonight. That doesn't break up until 11 or so & the deer are thicker than mosquitos then.

I don't blame you for dodging the deer. So far I haven't had a close call with one, but I don't have to, to know I don't want to. They are pretty bad here too, I think it's getting too expensive for hunter's to harvest them anymore.

Z, we could use a whole lot of harvesting up here. Never been anywhere with so many deer. I guess it's because we're a heavily agricultural county with not enough hunting pressure. The only "harvesting" I've done has been with my car. 3 so far. I've never had a deer piss me off bad enough to want to shoot it. I guess the only way I'd do that is if I hit one & didn't kill it outright. I wouldn't let it suffer. Good thing I'm pretty good friends with the Prosecuting Attorney so I don't have to worry too much about getting charged with improper discharge of a firearm.

I couldn't agree more. It would have to take a lot for me to "harvest" one. Hunting is one of those things you have to be raised on and I wasn't. Although I have to admit the guys I know who do hunt I always give them my best and tell them to get as many does as they can. As long as they don't invite me to the gutting out party.

Z, the station agent must have stolen my corn. You'll put another bushel out for my return trip, right?
And no, Momma didn't get thrown from the train. but there were a few riders she would have liked thrown.
