I like Clare. There's a hotel there called the Dougherty that used to have a great buffet. Last time I went there, it was just a restaurant, but still good. They also have a really nice Irish/Scottish gift store across the street.

CFG, I should have told you before you left that a good friend of mine is Undersheriff of Clare County. You probably didn't need an inside connection up there. I'm afraid that can't be said of some of this gang. I made it a point to become pretty good friends with the Prosecutor & chief assistant here. Just in case, you know.

Come to think of it, he was one of my co-conspiritors in the Great Mexican Hat Caper.

Speaking of shakes, I could really go for an orange-cream-cooler from Olga's right now...and a tuna olga (heated) with a side salad.

Speaking of Mexican hats, I could really go for a tres-amigos from Don Pablos right now, with some chips and salsa to start, and an O'douls...got to stay awake for the whole game.

Speaking of fish, I could really go for a plate of shrimp at the Red Lobster right now, with a baked budada.

If you pay me in fresh Iowa sweet corn, it's a deal...truly the gold standard...like Cuban's are to cigars.

It sure is Z...which reminds me of the Wimpy's in Lexington...great little burger and hot dog restaurant, a couple of blocks from Lake Huron.

Been there, EB?

Speaking of hot dogs. Check this place out on a weekend night. Tons of classic cars, about the closest thing to the old Gratiot crusin' days.

If you haven't read "Made in Detroit" by Paul Clemens, the above excerpt is from the first chapter and mentions St. Jude Church. IMHO, a captivating book.

While you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to wing Sizemore either.

Z, am I the only one who could do with less commentary by the broadcasters, especially when we're losing? The radio team jinxed Galaraga out of his perfect game the other day.

I think Rod is falling in love with himself. Everyone knows a no-no won't happen if it's mentioned.

Dickersen for sure...what was he thinking.

Just a thought, but if Rogers' could hit, we could play him at short when he's not pitching.

Not me, of course...but at our Borders, you can sit there all day and read whatever you want! The lattes must be keeping them afloat.
