EB, don't laugh. When my Grandpa died, I think I did see him move in his casket! Of course, I was just a kid, and I was sure wishing he would.

The bad thing about this it does absolutely nothing to improve the team in the short term.

Can I change my pick of 5 wins to 3?

I feel sorry for the poor sap who takes over since this season is already in the tank. If they hire a permanent replacement this week, that person could be stained with an 0-13 record before their first draft.

You can only feel so sorry though. There's only one way for this team to go and that's up, he can only improve one would hope.

"I get the feeling was glad to just have it done with and put him away.
I told my kids that if that can't think of anything more to put than my name, don't bother. It's more depressing than not having a death notice at all. I'd rather have something deliberately insulting than what they gave Dave.
Like 'She was a real pain in the ass in life. I hope she does better where ever it is that she ends up. We'll miss the free babysitting, but, really, not much else."

TS: I just want you to know that it you go before I do, I will make it a point to add a deliberate insult for you, you can count on it

J, do you still have your dirty socks from this year's playoffs, or are you fermenting another pair?

The nuns did go back to Adrian during the summer. The younger ones often took more college classes.

They had my sister teaching grade school in Cleveland when she was 18. All one needed for a basic teacher's cert in Ohio was 1 year of college. It took her forever to get her BS - mostly through summer classes at Sienna Heights.

Dave's Mass is at St. Jude on Sunday, October 12th at 11am. I will be in the UP, but all are encouraged and invited to attend if possible.

I wish we were going to be home. I didn't anticipate that it would be a Sunday Mass - and the 11:00 Mass has the choir - it will be beautiful!

cfg: Thanks again for Dave's Mass

All: Do you recall that there was one station wagon to serve about 32 nuns at SJ? There was a yearly pantry drive and $100/month stipend (during the 60s)...Gee, I wonder if they still got the stipend during the summer.

Thank you Laing, and just know I think you are doing a great thing in training to be a deacon. Please do keep us posted on that.

Diane, you know this is not his funeral Mass. In fact, you can call your nearest Catholic Church down there in Houston, and ask for a Mass to be said there for Dave, at a time of your choice, and then you can show up in person and participate in real-time.
