From the Michigan Sugar website:

Quote:

Today, Michigan Sugar Company is the only remaining sugar company in the state. It is the largest beet sugar processor east of the Mississippi River and fourth largest in the United States. It has approximately 1,250 grower-owners, employing 1,750 seasonal employees and 450 year-round employees. It generates over $300 million in direct economic activity annually in the local communities in which it operates. Its combined factories have a beet slicing capacity of 22,000 tons per day and an ability to produce about one billion pounds of sugar each year, which it markets under the Pioneer and Big Chief brand names.

As it was 100 years ago, Michigan Sugar Company is once again "Locally Grown - Locally Owned."
