There was one on 9 Mile out around Schoenner or Groesbeck, I think. My dad loved it. Great big ice cream cones.
I was just basing it on your clues, roof color and signage. It's brown and it looks like a cowboy.

Laing, I lived between between Moross and Casino, slightly closer to Casino, on the east side of the street. Can't say I remember the Shorts. I'm thinking maybe I should have gotten out more!

I think I first got the audio bug wandering around looking at the stereos at Pecar's. Their daughter Judy was in my class at SJS.

I think there is still a Pecar's on Rochester Rd. Or at least there was somewhat recently

Oops, sorry Laing, it was KR that asked the question about where on the block I lived. Anyway, it was on Lansdowne.

JC: I would never go to 9 and Schoenner to throw you off track....so get on the right track, no not 9 and Mack but right in your old hood. Out of all the contestants 22 is you.

Okay, color me stupid. I just now figured out that SJS has closed. I knew about the consolidation and name change a couple of years ago, but this is a bit of a shock. I did a little digging and found the announcement on the diocese website from last April. I had no clue that they were down to less than 100 students, even after the consolidation. To think they once had an enrollment of nearly 1600! I looked at a map, and it looks like there are no more Catholic elementary schools in the east side proper. What a shame!

TS: It was amazing that East Side Elementary (SJS) stayed open as long as it did. Many of the suburban catholic schools closed much earlier due to declining enrollment and shifting demographics. Yes, It is hard to believe that just last September was the first time St. Jude did not open its school doors.

Well, no bailout for the big two!
Truly sinful the way the muckety-mucks made our guys grovel - then still said no. If those politicians are not careful, they may not get paid soon either.
I have an idea! Do not give money to any banks, lending institutions, auto companies... Let them all fail. When they do, the people in forclosure can keep thier homes at no additional cost since there is no one there to collect. That way, some might have enough to buy a new car. Problem solved!
Sorry! Just sounding off.

What a shame. This country is in deep trouble. Buckle your seat bellts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Buy American! Support your local businesses, even if you pay a little more. It's time we get back to supporting those in our area as we did the little mom and pop shops and grocers when we were growing up. If we can't support our own backbone, we shouldn't complain when we need a wheelchair to get around.

I wish I had a magic wand to wave over the area to help heal the wounds but it looks like it will be a long road to recovery no matter what happens.

Just to brighten things up a little. I know we haven't completed KR's trivia questions yet, but I thought I'd throw a quicky out there. On Gratiot across the street from Ward's there was a Firestone tire store. This place had a person's name attached to it. A banana split from Tasty Freeze to whomever answers it.

What haven't we gotten yet in KR's quiz, beside #22 and #23?
I know there's more, but I lost track.

JC I think KR meant cfg

JC: Yea that reply was actually for Z (and cfg). I can see why the "what"?

Z (and all):Collectively most of the trivia questions have been answered. You may all bring up the gifts as a group. But there are photos yet to be identified and a couple of questions needing complete answers

Here they are:
8. Name three names that the Dunn Inn on the west side of Kelly between 7Mile and Moross was known as.
19. What was the name of the football game between St. Jude and St. Raymond known as?

Identify the above picture and give its exact location. (5 pts)

Identify the above picture (3 pts)

Identify the above picture (3 pts)
Where was it shot from? (2 pts)
Hint: all photos are on St. Jude property or the very nearby neighborhood

Wild guess on the bottom pic. It's one of the basketball supports in the gym and it was shot from the balcony by Colonel Mustard.

JC: No. Aldo's was right next door

Z: I resemble that remark. Yes. you are correct. It was shot from the balcony. The chrome shelf on the bottom of course is in front of the opening to the kitchen.
