http://www.detnews.com/apps/pb cs.dll/article?AID=/20090131/S PORTS0101/901310419/1126/SPORT S0101 I saw a generic link on a search engine page that stated "Former NFL player dies of cancer". I clicked the link and noticed it was sadly a former Lion. John Gordy was the best offensive lineman the Lions had in the 1960's. I had heard that he remained close to Alex Karras over the years. It was not unusual in those days to see John Gordy in the Lindell A.C. with Alex Karras, Wayne Walker, Dick LeBeau, and Joe Schmidt. IIRC John Gordy was also in the movie Paper Lion. Finally, John Gordy was a rookie on the 1957 championship team. Its a shame the Lions were not able to win in 1962 because people like Gordy, Schmidt, Karras, Walker, LeBeau, and Night Train Lane were championship caliber players. So long #75.
