We installed a 15 KW propane generator when we built this place. One of the wisest moves (there haven't been many) that I've made. Kicks on & off automatically and runs everything - even the AC if necessary. Now, as long as I don't run out of propane....................... ..

just out of curiousity, have your electric bills gone up month to month? nashvilles have almost doubled for some people. for those who can't afford it, the electric company is giving an additional 10 days to pay. gees, ain't that swell? just wondering what is going on in other parts of the usa.

Has the charge per kw hour increased or is usage just up? My only increases when I use more.

JC - any time.

usage has gone up some, but the amounts of increases aren't comparable. there was one story of a senior citizen who actually cut back on usage and had a large increase. i've never trusted utilities anyway - they charge what they want - where would the public go if they wanted to change?

hey campfire girl, i need your help. i have been trying to get an original copy of my baptismal certificate to go with my application to the diaconate here in nashville, but all lynn sent me was a photocopy filled in. my pastor here said that would not work, as it needs to be an original with a seal. i told this to lynn, but she said that is all they send out. i also emailed Fr. Robert this morning to see if he can help. i will need to turn in my final app next month. anything you can do for me? i would be in your debt.

Sounds like a Whitey's - Top Hat debate but don't forget about these tasty burgers.

Let's see, there was White Castle, White Tower, Top Hat, Bray's, Tel-Way, Whiteway, Travis Burger....
What others were there to choose from?

wasn't there a white castle at 8 and gratiot?
best burgers had to come from kavan's on morang, but for sliders, it was white castle.

There were 2 burger joints on 8 and Gratiot. I think it was Top Hat on the SE corner and White Castle on the NW corner.

Out of the one's mentioned Whitey's get my vote, beside I like their onion chips. If you take the time to preapre them exactly like they say on the box the frozen ones aren't too bad but still not the same.

Geneva's is still the king of sliders IMO

Milroy's, by all means.

Of the burger joints, I prefer TelWay. I love the Hillbilly Chili, and their sliders aren't as, shall we say, explosive as Whitey's are.

Ever done Scotty Simpson's Fish and Chips on Fenkell? http://scottysfishandchips.com /Home_Page.php
It rivals Milroy's for the fish and their Cole Slaw is the best. Went back there about five years ago. They have been a staple in that hood for more than fifty years.

Scotty's is open. It's closed on Monday's all year, and Sunday's during the summer. I tried to go there on a Sunday last summer, and that's how I found out.
LOVELY neighborhood, tho
