Is the Car Wash Cafe still open? If so, does anyone have a phone number for it? I've checked yelp.com, the yellow pages, the white pages, and google; I can't seem to find anything.

Yes, it's at approximate 400 Meldrum at E Jefferson. GoogleMap streetview image:

I too have been curious about this place. Would love to go some time but it always seems closed.

I've lived two blocks from that place for the past two years and I've never seen much happening there. There are sometimes cars in front of it but it doesn't appear to be open. In the summer sometimes there's a guy BBQing in front. It has been a huge mystery to me but if it was open I would probably go there all the time.

Its like a museum inside, great place to throw a party. As I recall Larry will rent it out for events.

Does anyone have a contact for Larry? His last name perhaps?

Last year, Lisa from earthworks threw a lunch in there. Very cool experience and vibe in that place. I can't wait to visit this summer.

I would check out the http://www.cskdetroit.org/EWG/ index.cfm website and get her email contact there. And maybe she can help you out to get in touch with Larry.
