Colleen Howe, "Mrs. Hockey", died.

Dave Pureifory, former Lion and EMUer, died.

Chuck Daly has advanced pancreatic cancer.

This after Mickey Goodwin's death earlier this week.

Enough!

I just don't know where to start.

Colleen Howe certainly was a fixture around these parts for a long while. She raised her kids to be NHL players and kept one of the true Detroit sports legends in check at home. She was truly ahead of her time in parlaying her husband's past into income long after his playing days.

And Dave Pureifory, along with Bubba Baker were mainstays in that Silver Rush defense back then.

Chuck Daly- possibly one of the classiest and well dressed gentlemen ever to stroll down the sidelines of a Pistons game. He was the mastermind behind some of the best Pistons teams around.

Ugh.

It's almost too much to bear.

You forgot to mention the sad news about Detroit Lion Corey Smith.

Colleen Howe took a lot of grief for sticking up for Gordie. Management didn't like someone advising old Gordie.
She'd been sick for a long time. Toughest thing Gordie ever had to deal with. They were close.

I'm so sorry about Colleen Howe, but her last couple years were very bad, she is released now.

Love and condolences to Gordie Howe, one of the great gentlemen. He loved her very much.

She was the ultimate Hockey Mom. Colleen Howe will be missed. And while she stood in the shadows of her husband and sons' fame, she was a powerful woman in her own right. They didn't exactly vote her into the US Hockey HOF for nothing.

The Howe's invented the term Husband and Wife Team. She was quite a lady. Played against the Howe boys many times in my youth, she was always in the stands.

This is the sad thing about the end of life for one half of a couple.

One suffers and dies and the other one emotionally suffers.

I've always felt that those who were blessed with great marriages carry the heaviest crosses when the spouse dies.
