When Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka Joe The Plumber, opened up his speech at conservative Media Research Center's 2009 Gala by telling the cheering Republican crowd that he was "horny", you might be temped to discount it as merely a stupid joke from a stupid man. But, if you did that, you would be underestimating Joe.

Don't get me wrong. It was a stupid joke and Joe definitely is a stupid man, but one thing that Mr. The Plumber does know how to do quite well... is market himself.

We're talking about a man who's known as a plumber, who's not actually a plumber. Who got a war correspondent's gig, while simultaneously saying that war correspondents shouldn't exist. Not to mention a book deal and that sweet late night television infomercial.

The point is, that Joe knew what he was doing when he uttered the now famous

"God, all this love and everything in the room... I'm horny."

What Joe was doing was marketing his next career move. Take a look.
