Currently, I'm checking out the new Buddy Guy CD, "Skin Deep." I like it, quite a bit. I'm not really a big blues person (although I frequently am quite morose, if that counts,) but I listen to old jazz (and some old rock) all of the time, and, sometimes, I find that my music-ear is craving something different.
Hence the Argentinian tango/classical hybrid to which I earlier referred...

I've seen Buddy Guy a few times. Puts on a fantastic show, always walks up and down every aisle while playing.

Saw Buddy Guy in 2001 in an open air arena just before dusk and it was terrific. Will definitely be checking out his new "Skin Deep" CD soon.

I can't get this song out of my head today.

They win my prize for worst group name of the 60s though. I don't know how this one missed the cut on that Brit/Euro Nuggets box set from a few years back. (The above mentioned Sharon Tandy should have been on it too.)

'Cuz we are A) too damned old & beat up to be excited about it and B) too damned old & beat up to survive it, even if "A)" was false.

Heard a very interesting band on the way home today on NPR. Nationbeat, a curious combination of southern American music and Brazilian music.

"The Dark End of the Street" in a medley with stuff like Rivers of Babylon, Banana Boat Song, Amen, and other oldies in live soca jam form, by 68 year old Trinidadian star Calypso Rose... from her performance here last night. It's Caribanna Weekend here, and other free shows include Byron Lee & the Dragonaires (I'm filling in for a radio show and won't make it), Mykal Rose tonight (ex-Black Uhuru) and the Abyssinians on Sunday night. At a party-friendly venue, no less.

Been in a real 80s mood lately, don't know why. Read some news about Jim Kerr and had to go find some Simple Minds. So I've been listening to Alive and Kicking, on repeat!

In the car, its still Lupe Fiasco.

This is more of a "what I'd like to be listening to" post.
I need to find out if there's a nifty re-mastered edition of "Stage Fright." Big favorite of mine.

Ravine- I believe all the Band Capitol c.d.'s have been remastered, with bonus tracks, and the one I have even has an old radio ad for the l.p. at the end.
Listening to Mykal Rose's show from Saturday night.

Oh Keith. Imagine a day when he was unlined and pretty. Hilarious.

Nothing on yet. Probably a mixCD when I get to the car.
