Listening the The Who Live at Leeds, which is by far the best live album I have ever heard in any genre. I have the double album which is superb....I wish they would have done something with their show in Hull tapes, which is said to have been even better than the Leeds show. |

My beloved bought me An American In Paris and Rhapsody In Blue, conducted by Leonard Bernstein. I'm drifting around doing my morning thing to the most beautiful American music. |

Pam, I'm starting to think Oldredfordette & I should join forces and stage an "intervention" to help you get a grip on your Youtube jones. C'mon, Pam, step away from the mousepad... But, it could be so much worse. You could be cutting & pasting a whole buncha bullshit which nobody wants to read, think about, or comment on. Just toying with you, of course. The link you posted, for my benefit, to the Turtles video started me on a half-hour odyssey through a pile of Turtles stuff. I always had a very high opinion of The Turtles, although, later on, I found Kaylan & Volman to be vaguely creepy in a way on which I could not quite put my finger. |

I have Kaylan and Volman's solo album somewhere in my vinyl pile. I do love their voices. So who was the famous singer who robbed them? Was it Zappa? |

Watching a Bill Waterous(sic) and Charlie Mingus special on TV. Bill had a stroke last year, but is better now and plays regularly at Croce's in Downtown San Diego. |

Pam, naw, I wouldn't ever do that. That Turtles video... the link took me to Youtube, but it said that video is no longer available. If it is the one where Kaylan & Volman are explaining how their whole Turtles thing was derailed by unscrupulous managers, agents, lawyers, etc., yes, I've seen it. What a mess. I suppose they could be exaggerating or lying, but I doubt it. It is a theme too common among hippie rock stars from the 60's and 70's. I don't think they are all lying. |

Cripes, Pam. I just re-clicked on your link-- the link on which I clicked JUST A FEW MINUTES AGO-- and, this time, it popped up. But yeah, that's the one. Side note: It is remarkable, how well Volman has aged. Even in the most recent videoclips, he looks good. |

O.K., Pam; here is my favorite guitar player, in a setting where I would not have expected to find him. I don't know if you're into jazz, at all, but this is a jazz standard/classic called "Cherokee." http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v= Om6HDUKBbzE |

I had so much fun with those Raiders videos last night I made myself a big 60's garage-y dancy playlist and listened all day. Great stuff. Right now, I have a Paul Simon playlist going. |

Pam, I think you may be like my friend Eric. Eric wants songs to have lyrics. He likes lyrics whether, or not, the singer is a good singer. If the song has no lyrics, he just doesn't feel it. I understand. Whatever pleases you, or me, is good music for you, or me. I have come to see that there is plenty of stuff, on YT, for both of us and each of us. As you were... Carry on. |
