Umbound, you will find that the prevailing snobbishness afoot in this thread will make it unlikely that anyone-- even those who like it-- will "second" your thumbs-up to the Coldplay record.
The fact that they are popular shall be held against them.

C'mon, where has anybody ever done that on here?
People should listen to whatever they like.

New Portishead. A couple duds, the rest pretty amazing. And some Gogol Bordello.

What I believe to be the two greatest pure rock songs of all time:

http://www.last.fm/music/The+R olling+Stones/_/Rip+This+Joint

http://www.moistworks.com/mp3/ BobSeger_GetOutOfDenver(LiveBullet).mp3

Second one's gotta be live, studio version doesn't cut it. Sorry the link is f'd up.

Graham Parker iTunes playlist - we saw him last night at Callahan's Pub in Auburn Hills - what a show! Opening was a local guy, John Milroy who plays in a band called the Milroys. Very very good.

But I love that song.

Fans of Steve Earle know that he has a very talented son, Justin Townes Earle. Visit Daytrotter and help yourself to some free and legal downloads of his music.

Last night on PBS I watched Andre' Rieu and his Strauss Orchestra, taped at a concert in Vienna. "The Blue Danube" had to be played in Austria, of course, but also "Eine Kline Nachtmusik" and to be a little more contemporary, "The Sound of Music", among other selections.

It was magnificent. That, my friends, is music.

Radio Paradise here as well. Great stuff and GREAT variety!

(especially for those of us who dearly miss the good ol' days of WDET's variety)

Do you want the truth or a lie to make you feel better? :-) She had a 3 piece backing band and did stuff from a lot of different albums.

Radio paradise is my choice also but I was very surprised to see "Breathless" by Figures on a Beach mentioned on this thread. Still love that one and am pretty sure I have the EP in the archives somewhere...
