Thanks Jcole - I was looking up my great uncle "Mike O'Dowd" who used to be the middleweight champion of the world. Sorry - no Braddock connection.

Rant- We spend way too long on this electoral process. It's too lengthy, too expensive and pointless. We're focused on electing someone for President, while the economy is heaving wildly on the brink of collapse. We spend two years electing someone for a four year post. Does anyone ever ask who is really doing their job? If Obama and McCain can take two years off to run, maybe their existing office should be eliminated.

stash and chuck-

Yes!

So much effort is put into who wins the office, and little if any effort is ever put into how well they follow up upon their promises. Spare me the differential of "that's the campaigning process". It is so fake!

FOLLOW UP ON THEIR PROMISES!

oh yeah.... rant.

I know Craigslist R and R is for ranting and raving, but things seem to be getting way out of hand over at the Detroit board this election. A quick look at all the other R and R boards in other major cities don't even come close to the political turmoil and threats on this one.
If these people were on a soapbox saying this in a public park they would be arrested.

Rant: People who think they're too important to wait at a red light to turn, and instead use gas station or store parking lots to cut through. And the fact that there's too few cops on the streets pretty much anywhere, so these arrogant jerks get away with it.

Rave: The dwindling number of people who understand and exhibit common courtesy and manners, and the even fewer who teach it to their children.

Rant: People who run me in the back with their shopping carts while they are talking on their cell phones. People who leave the store get in their cars start to talk on the cell phone while backing out and almost hit people on foot and when you yell at them to stop and watch out they give you dirty looks.

This happens a lot at Holiday Market.

Rave: Looking at the lovely cakes and pies and buying one at the same market.

I can't say I've ever had a miss, and I go there about every one or two weeks. In fact, I'll probably stop by later today. The last few slices of my current loaf just sprouted white fuzz. Speaking of which...
Rant: Bakeries in general need to sell smaller loaves. I buy the smallest loaf available, and I have to constantly shove bread down my throat to finish it all before it becomes inedible. I almost always end up throwing the last few slices away. I hate wasting food. :-(
