Just to rub salt in a few folks asses, last night I watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in their Christmas concert on PBS. Now, THAT'S music, not some of the garbage I see listed above. Sheesh, a guy learns three chords on a guitar and he says he's a musician. Foo. |

Whiskey in the Jar by Metallica and before that the same song by the Dubliners. I LOVE that song. Metallica's video that goes with the song is NASTY, so i just listen and don't look. |

"Music In A Doll's House" by Family, again. Forty years old this year (!) and a big BIG favorite of mine. Debut LP of a band which, I tend to think, probably was capable of turning out better later work than they did. If Oldredfordette is not already hip to this one, I think she might enjoy it. |

Pam, I never liked rock music at all. When Elvis got first hit fame I was already out of high school. About as wild as I like to get is a little Simon and Garfunkle occasionally. I don't look down my nose at all those folks, though. Their so called "music" just does not appeal to me. But if they can make a buck pleasing the masses, go for it. |

Ggores...personally I think Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey" sounds pale and weak in comparison to Metallics's. If you haven't seen the video that is shot in a big old house, check it out on you tube. The uncensored version has a longer version of the song. It's the one with all the girl/girl action. That's why I minimize the screen and just listen while I do other things. I'm an "oldie" (almost 60), but I still love to rock, and I don't mean in a chair. I can't begin to imagine how many hours of "air guitar" I've played when home alone, lol. I love 50's and 60's oldies, as well as certain cuts by more recent artists. Just bought a CD of great Ramones stuff. Occasional heavy metal songs get me going, too. When I die, there will not be any typical funeral-type organ music at my memorial service...it will rock, as will the crematorium as I'm being incinerized. |

That Floyd thang looks intriguing indeed... anyone heard "Dub Side of the Moon"? Frankie Paul does a great version of "Us and Them". Currently listening to Wilson Pickett live in Stockholm 1969, hot hot show from Swedish radio, although I wish a cleaner dub of this had come my way by now. "I'm not paying you to be tired!" - Wilson Pickett to his bass player in the Midnight Movers. |
