http://www.allpar.com/news/ind ex.php/2009/02/corker-says-chr ysler-bk-would-boost-gm/ Corker says Chrysler BK would boost GM February 28th, 2009 by Bill Cawthon Republican Senator Bob Corker, who has become an adamant foe of government aid to American automakers in spite of the fact his home state gave $577 million to Volkswagen to build a plant in Chattanooga, says a bankruptcy filing by Chrysler LLC would be helpful to General Motors. In an interview with Dow Jones Newswire, Corker said, “With Chrysler gone, the break-even for GM is even lower - it’s more easily met.” Corker, who sits on the Senate Banking Committee, went on to say he could see the federal government helping one of the automakers, but not both. |

Funny in that free market system mentality...competition spurs creativity...and while many of the employees who would love to corner the market have not really voiced joy over the demise of their competition...ummm..maybe because we all are effected by this and many of our friends, neighbors and family have worked for the competition... It seems that Coker really isn't his brother's keeper does it...my how does he reconcile that in Church each Sunday.... |

Chrysler is going to be propped up by Fiat. Regardless, it is not for politicians to pontificate over, it is for free market forces to weed out the unsuccessful and elevate the competitive. |

Corporate incompetence, corruption and greed has not been "weeded" out by market forces, and instead has occurred when their accounting cookbooks run out of "creative" recipes. |

If it is true incompetence, or whatever, and it is damaging to their success, then they will loss profits/money and go bankrupt. A simple truth not to be decided by someone sitting in judgement of a company if we are in a free market for that particular product. |

A truly "free market" never existed, since it should be exclusive to free societies that also promote and permit internal and external free market trade. The very presence of products imported from countries who do not practice what they produce for free markets makes that quite obvious. |
