I actually listened to some of it. Rush plays to his audience well. It was his national coming out party as far as TV is concerned and being a de-facto leader of the Republican party.

Down the road the Republican politicans may regret that they gave this guy so much status. Rush can use his bully pulpit to slam Republicans he doesn't like as easily as Democrats.

Your right, they've given him unprecedented power as in, Adolf Hitler. This is going to be quite interesting.

Careful reading of the text of what he regularly says on the EIB show says it all about him AND his followers.

He is not, and will not be a politician. He is a highly successful and inspiring commentator. In this capacity, he has, and will further the cause of conservatism greatly...kudos, and thanks to him.

Wow - there were parts of that speech (the parts that should have had actual content to back up the baptist style cheerleader chants that started the speech) where Rush rambled really badly. He made a big show about how he doesnt need a teleprompter like the "liberals" do, and neither do conservatives because it is all so ingrained in their souls. But then he stammered and stuttered while trying to read his crib sheets during the rest of the speech.

Um, Rush....use a teleprompter ! Just like John McCain reading the teleprompters off the floor - yeah, nobody noticed that.

That thing reeked of desperation, and when I turned it on I didnt expect it to. They sound like cornered wounded animals.

Ward Connerly made a few interesting comments at CPAC. Including several references to the hot word as of late - coward.

I don't wear ties but have several in my wardrobe. The best ones were designed by Rush years ago. And, they were expensive. He always has a fall-back job. Anybody remember those?

CC: "He is not, and will not be a politician. He is a highly successful and inspiring commentator. In this capacity, he has, and will further the cause of conservatism greatly...kudos, and thanks to him."

Along side "inspiring commentator", you conveniently forgot to mention his being a "drug addict", and "habitual liar".

Rush POed the RNC chairman. On D.L. Hughley's show last night Republican RNC chairman Michael Steele called Rush Limbaugh's comments "incendiary and ugly." He also called him an entertainer and said that he was not the defacto leader of the GOP.

Was that a loud splintering sound I heard coming from CPAC on Saturday??

"You be da man!"

Oops...maybe not!!

heh...

I should have been clearer about Rush coming out TV party. It was a coming out party only in the sense of him being the declared de-facto leader of the republican party.

He was terrible and way off base in his comments about Donavan McNabb on MNF

Romney flashes a seemingly nonabrasive hollywood style charm and even displays glimmers of wit. Simultaneously evoking the unflattering slick used car salesman persona. He does not resist using incitable rhetoric lined with righteous absolutism. "... the last thing we need is ...", "we know best", and "they don't know what they don't know" (paraphrase). He is developing confidence among a rebuilding base. His explicit reference to the invisible hand is duly noted.

Rush's worshippers soaked it all up. Their god has spoken. I can't believe the fundamentalist christians out there that'll take Rush's word over jeebis krist's words.

Remove the vivid theatrics, and Rush's banter (text) is sometimes only graciously condescending (e.g. "... they can learn"). He sometimes struggles to articulate complex or important assertions. Physically, he more and more resembles Archie Bunker.

Current Republicans in office are affectively dull, whereas the popular conservative media personalities are sharp. If a Republican candidate for 2012 sharpens, he or she risks cutting away Americans.

Funny we are mourning the loss of a conservative like Paul Harvey on one side of the thread and here a blowhard (Rush) is left holding the mike...sad how we lose a person who-whether or not-you agree with his politics is mourned by many..wonder what Rush's lasting memory will evoke?

Rush percieves his patriotic inner-voice is pressuring him to support President Obama's leadership. In this his internal fight, Rush angrily and erroneously attributes the pressure as a racist tactic designed to weaken his resolve. With that, Rush and many others can easily and proudly display what we've seen.

quote:

"We are being told that we have to hope he succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever, because his father was black, because this is the first black president."
Rush Limbaugh

Let's be real. Rush is an entertainer who has chosen to play to the cheap seats where the bigots and racists sit.

I am embarassed for him and for his listeners. We are better than that.
