If you are partying today, please don't drive. I can't get over the terrible accident in Roseville last night where four teens lost their lives. Such a tragedy.

It's best to stay home tonight, and listen live to all the drunks getting picked up by our local cops.

Southeastern Michigan public safety scanner. (mpscs)

When that woman sobers up, she will face the news that she took four young lives.

Not to derail, but: Another (minor) argument for effective mass transit.

Police said Dingle's blood alcohol content level was above the legal limit when her full-size Ford van barreled into a car full of teens on Gratiot Avenue near Masonic Boulevard.

The four teenagers, identified as Erica Haudek, 15, Jordan Micelak, 16, Stephanie Curris, 16, all students at Lake Shore High School and Devon Spurlock, 19, were waiting at a red light at the intersection, when Dingle lost control of her vehicle and hit them, police said.

Witnesses said Dingle's vehicle went airborne, flipping over three times and taking out a light pole before hitting the teenagers' car.

The cops on the news said between 60 and 80 MPH. She blew a .23 at the scene. The thing was, that it was a conversion van with a bed in the back. It was cold last night, but she could have slept it off in back, with a sleeping bag.

Just terrible. And yet there are countless people who are going to do the same thing today. Of course some want to make this a national drinking holiday.

After reading the comments on this very tragic and violent incident (not an accident) apparently this monster had her children taken from her by the court, which means that she probably was irresponsible as an adult, and may have been arrested before due to her alcoholism.

Some people who drink heavily become extremely enraged, uncontrollable, and belligerent when others attempt to calm them down or try to prevent them from driving. I have personally been involved with people who are like that when they become inebriated. It is obvious from the reports that this monster, who was drinking at a house prior to leaving, was uncooperative with the people who were there, and allegedly tried to keep her from driving. I think that there is a good chance that those who with her when she was drinking may be sued. If they could not stop her from leaving, they should have at least called the police to have them stop her on the road.

She was driving in an aggressively wild drunken rage, swerving in between other cars at a high rate of speed. She was like a loose cannon on the road, looking for a target to explode her frustated rage on.

How about suing the breweries and distillers? I mean if you're for suing the last people that talked to this person.. She is an adult and responsible for her actions. Nobody else.

I do think they should restrict the sale of alcoholic beverages to some. Like some people can't own firearms, some should not be allowed to drink.

This horrible accident reminds of the guy in a pickup that got on the expressway going the wrong way in Ohio, and killed all them kids from Redford.

Someday we're going to have to face the facts, the producers of these products are somewhat to blame, and lack of laws controlling them are as well. Uncontrollable person with gun, uncontrollable person behind the wheel, absolutely no difference. Dead is dead.

Agreed. But like the gun control issue, if the drug were not so pervasive, this would not have had the chance to happen.

They are suing the last people to talk to her, the idea is that the suit is brought against who over-served her.

You can't sue a party store for serving, but you can when the person is visible intoxicated. The same goes for a bar. And if the house was supplying the booze they are responsible for her being overserved.

Already? This accident just happened last night. No time for mourning, just head straight for the lawyers? This mentality just sucks.

Tort reform including a "loser pays" clause would decrease the frivolous stuff.

Tort reform won't happen because lawyers provide millons to politicians of both parties campaign funds.

Every so often some politician will say things like tort reform, but they are quickly muted.

Tort reform is a gimmick to win votes just like anti-abortion stances and campaign finance reform.

As more details have been released about "Fran's" background, there is one detail that remains unanswered, and that is how this long homeless woman managed to acquire the van that she killed the four teen with. How could she afford the van, insurance, plates, and gas to drive it? Did she actually own or lease the van, or did it belong to someone else?

A lawsuit filed vs the occupants of the home where she was intoxicated would likely be a waste of time, as the Roseville police had been to the home a few hours prior. I wonder why she could not be arrested then for drunk and disorderly conduct? But the occupants have a perfect alibi, vs any lawsuits. The police knew what this dangerously unstable woman's condition was, and did nothing. Maybe the city will be sued instead.

You're wrong Detej. Trial lawyers (i.e., plaintiffs' counsel) contribute overwhelmingly (90%+) to Dems, as do law professors. That's why there won't be tort reform for awhile.

http://abajournal.com/news/law _profs_campaign_contributions_ overwhelmingly_favor_democrats /

Even when you roll in all law firm contributions, more than 75% goes to Dems.

And, from how it was described, the vehicle came up and on top of the car with the teens, crushing them.....awful.
