Easily fixed...Freedom, and liberty via unfettered capitalism. The incentives inherent in this is what made America the greatest nation in the past, and could do so again in the future. Obama's liberal socialist failures may be a backhanded boost ushering in a true conservative revolution. |

No...Early American history. Not fascism...fascisim is about collectivism, capitalism is about individual liberty. |

It's pretty obvious that no one bothered to click the link before commenting. Maybe there's some irony therein since the video at the link was about exponential change and our presumed inability to cope with that rate of change. |

"Maybe there's some irony therein since the video at the link was about exponential change and our presumed inability to cope with that rate of change." No problem at all - just pull the plug. I've often wondered about the introduction of all this technology into defense systems and even into the devices soldiers carry with and use. What happens in the field nowadays when electricity/batteries/digital communications go down? |

fascism was not, repeat not, collectivism "The incentives inherent in this is what made America the greatest nation in the past" interesting -- the time period where inarguably we became the greatest nation was marked by very strong unions and a 70-90% top marginal tax rate |

read your mussolini, Bats. it was collectivist as feudalism was, or as plantation society, etc. as a proponent of corporate feudalism, you should realize that. |

For that particular brand of Fascism maybe so. Although you just admitted my argument to be correct by qualifying the collectivism of your example (Mussolini) as Feudal and plantation style collectivism...still collectivism (and statism) as I argued earlier. Note to Rb..reference your challenge in post 8773...above is the compelling logical argument with specific details satisfying the challenge that I do not provide compelling arguments. Wow, that was fast (and easy), one post after the challenge was accepted by me. If you like I can continue to reference this for a while. |

Rb336 posts, in this thread, on Friday March 27. He's posted 8772 times as of that post. Over two days later, Ccbatson references a different thread, and a different post of Rb336 (and post number), yet has to place it here. Fortunately, Ccbatson's apparent OCD only manifests itself on the the Non-Detroit side of the forum. Unfortunately, this obsessiveness detracts from the other posts on this side of the forum. More unfortunate are those of us (myself included) that stoop to his level and respond to him. It reminds me of the old adage "never argue with an idiot. They'll knock you down to their level and beat you with experience." It appears that any attention is good attention for him--look at his posts in the frozen Lake Superior and Joy of Planting threads. They have nothing to do with the subjects, and everything to do with calling attention to himself. Even with his recent "computer security" issues, he had nothing but insults for the people who posted sound advice. You know, this is like trying to enjoy your favorite park, but litter is everywhere. You can't sit on the bench and look at the garbage, so you go pick it up. But when you come back the next day, there's more litter. At what point do you stop picking up the litter and just move to another park? |

Alsodave, it should give you some solace that there should be an "ignore" function coming soon. I know I'm looking forward to it. Here's a graphical representation of ccbatson's relevance at detroityes...

An ignore feature would make it more obvious (and annoying) to see who just can't ignore trolling, because we'll see replies and even quoted replies to the usual nonsense, but without all the context. |

I'd use it anyway. Toggling off and on as wanted. It could have it's benefits. It's a shame that one couldn't redact posts that have words in it that you list. 1) Ayn Rand 2)facism 3)Gore 4)collectivist And Cheddar, the chart was great, except I would have placed the red line about even to the bottom Time line, in proportion to the actual relevance factor. |

Why do I rarely stumble over to the non-Detroit section? because threads rarely stay on topic and always turn into attacks. |
