As if things couldnt get any worse for Rogers or the Lions, Charlie horsed around with dope and landed himself a 4 game suspension. This suspension does not surprise me one bit, however. A friend of mine who used to work at an auto detailing place in Lansing while Rogers attended MSU told me that Rogers brought his vehicle in a couple of times and it had an essence of marijuana. |

Where did you hear this?? This is not so bad, you got Williams and Williams as well as Johnson, and Pollard at TE. Still a good set of receivers. Rogers looked like he was at 50% speed anyway. |

I'll let you have the link.. but anyway, I suspect Mr. Rogers time in Detroit is drawing to a close. He'll be burning us with some other team next season as so many former Lions do. |

Anyone still want to challenge my contention that Rogers is a bust? Now we know why he sucks, on the odd chance that he's not hurt, he's high as a kite. What a piece of garbage. |

Bust? Thats way too premature. What this incident proves is that Rogers focus is not on the team, but rather his personal time. You got all off-season to do that shit. Coming off two injuries in two seasons...I just dont get it. |

Why is it premature? He's a first round draft choice who has done nothing, zero, zip. He missed his first two seasons with injury, hasn't done squat in his first three games this season, and now won't even return to the team until the eighth game of the season, at which point both Mike Williams and Kevin Johnson will have passed him on the depth chart. And to top it all off, the guy is shooting his mouth off in the paper about how he isn't being handled properly, never mind he can't get separation at the line of scrimmage. All this and the freakin' stoned headcase is a millionaire. Not only that, Millen and the Lions knew he was trouble because he tested for a "diluted" sample back at the NFL combines, meaning stoned Charlie was loading himself up with water to cover up his drug use. |

He did nothing but break his collarbone the first 2 years and apparantly get high the third season, great career so far. |

How interesting that Drew Sharp had a column in the paper today about CR needing to grow up. DR stated that CR has already received 15 million dollars between his salary and signing bonus. Some people are driven to be the best they can be in their given field and some are just looking to make the big money. Hopefully it's not a case of the latter with CR. It's been widely reported that he doesn't have the greatest work ethic. It could be that when the Lions drafted M. Williams last spring they were worried about more than CR being injury prone. |

"AND he's not stupid enough to get caught." He did recently state that he still smokes pot during an HBO interview. Stuff like that doesn't usually count towards brilliance. |

Yeah, maybe 2008 will be his breakthrough year? His ass will be gone long before 2008. That's the beauty of the NFL, no guaranteed contracts. |

So Rogers is a bust while people still stick up for Harrington? Did I miss something? (No Czar, I am not saying you are a Harrington suppoerter). Rogers hasn't been able to prove if he is or is not a bust. Two injuries and a third season of NO ONE THROWING THE BALL! Wait and see... |

It's hard to throw the ball to a guy who struggles to get off the line. When CR does get off the line he's usually going half speed. You can add in the fact that he doesn't have very good hands. I went to the Green Bay game and watched CR and it's very apparent that he has some major flaws in his game. I'm not a big Harrington fan, but it's a lot easier for a WR to adjust to the NFL game than it is a QB. (Message edited by rjk on October 04, 2005) |

Good call RJK, true indeed. The Lions have two problems. Lazy starting wide receivers and a quarterback that makes bad decisions. R. Williams concentration failures (dropped balls and bad routes) should grant him a seat on the bench. Fix the first problem and Joey will have no more excuses. Mike Williams and Kevin Johnson on the other hand have acted like true professionals. They work hard, catch the football and keep their mouth shut. Fred Graves (WR coach) needs to have the spotlight on him too until these prima donnas start playing with passion. |

Passion...what Kevin Jones exhibited after running over that bitchass defensive back. Then to carry it on over to the sidelines. One could easily read his lips, throwing out "THATS WHAT THE FUCK I'M TALKING ABOUT!" among other things. How is he rewarded for his passion? He gets benched the second half in exchange for two back up running backs. I'd rather see Mooch go than Harrington. Mooch hasn't a clue what is going on, it becomes apparent with each passing year. |

Grrrrr....my rant isn't done yet. Rogers hasn't shown he's got the stuff even during preseason. So you have a big, beefy, physical Mike Williams and a veteran in Kevin Jones on the side lines. So why has it taken so long to yank Rogers? After further review, I have concluded that the holding call on Goodman and the "no touchdown" call were both complete and total bullshit. That game should have been one for the win column. I just hope the loss doesn't impact them too bad, as that defense out played Tampa's D if you ask me, which would put them on par with the best in the league. They can't carry this team into the playoffs, but if they can keep up their hard work maybe it'll give the offense time to iron out their problems. |

Just about every NFL writer/analyst agrees the Lions got jobbed on Pollard's TD. That said, Harrington's passer rating is 31st in the NFL, pathetic for a QB in his fourth season. |

Don't forget that the Lions offense is second last in the NFL 36 points to Baltimore's 30. That's sad even for a west coast offense that is 10 years too old. By that I mean the west coast offense is a dead animal. It has been beaten and shouldn't be used anymore. Tweak it for todays highly defensive games and go from there... So we are to remove all possible mistakes to see if Harrington is a dud? Sorry Sport, that dog don't hunt. Any decent QB with those receivers would have much better numbers than Harrington. Have you ever wondered if they have in fact, quit on Harrington? Why run down field when he won't throw the ball more than 15 yards max? |

The NFL only tests for Steriods in their drug testing program. They test for other drugs in their susbstance abuse program. So I guess it would easy to cheat the tests when they are not testing for it. (Message edited by _sj_ on October 07, 2005) |
