I would argue that Lowell's sunset shot above has yet to be knocked off as the winner in that category.

It is a great shot, but I like the one from above because it is so unique. Lowell's is better photography.

I like how you can see the old, and new stadiums (stadii?) in the cloud opening.

Oh, man, that's a good one!
Last time I flew outta DTW, wind was strong from the south, so we flew towards Toledo and I had the best damn view of eastern Lake Erie that is possible from other than space. Point Pelee across to Cleveland was clear as a bell. And my camera was in the suitcase in the plane's belly......Dah........

WEll, technically these are birds-eye prespectives...so totally different than Lowell's above (which is really dramatic and wonderful)

They are all great...particularly Mikem's...

I've flowm many a-time and have see some wonderful views of detroit from 5-10,000 feet like this. Unfortunately I'm really just too lazy to take pics.

When this thread started I wondered how long it would take for MikeM to pull out one of his beauties. And did he ever! The downtown mountains of Detroit. One almost expects god to descend from the clouds.

What is this aerial they attribute to you, Lowell? I don't think I've ever saw it posted here.

Hornwrecker, It's Stadia, the same as auditoria. I often wonder if a single cafeteria is a cafeterium.

Lmich, I know what you mean, on one of my computers with Firefox I do not have the masthead with the skyline photo. On a different computer I have the masthead, but the drop down menus don't work. In IE, I get the masthead and the drop down menus work.
But on both mastheads I have a Detroit Rises hyperlink photo that does work. Go figure.

Those aren't his photos. Those are photos by Tony Hiller, who use to manage www.downtownmotown.8k.com, a photo site that now seems to be down indefinitely, and www.detroitcity.8k.com (open but hasn't been updated in over a year).

I strongly urge everyone to check out detroitblog.org (if there is anyone left on earth who has not yet) his skyline photos of the the city at night from atop the various abandoned buildings are always breathtaking. The guy is an artist, not just an explorer.

His fireworks photos are among my favorites.

Huh? I was simply telling people that commented on how good 'your' photos were that they were taken by someone else (that I happen to know). I know that you know you didn't take those, but other's seemed to be confused and thought they were yours. Please, don't be a dick to me.

I posted them before but I don't know if anyone actually got to see them.

Here's about a dozen skyline shots I've taken these past two years. A couple were some "hard to gets" from abandoned buildings.

Here's a night skyline shot I took from Broderick Tower. There is a small one at the begining and a larger one near the end.

Looks at the almost constant line of trucks that can be seen crossing the Ambassador in MikeM's second pic just above. It's horrible.
