"I think they should tear it down and put a cheescake factory on that spot. Either that or a Taco Bell. " - JT1 on the ugly building / automated garage thread. Yeah, why the hell aren't there any T-Bells downtown! I was thinking about it a few weeks ago. I want a T-bell, if not in the CBD how about along Woodward toward Wayne, or along Jefferson going East. |

I know... there are now going to be two Wendy's and two McDonald's on Jefferson between Alter and Woodward but the only Taco Bell is a Taco Bell/KFC mix and su-zzucks. I'd kill for a Taco Bell downtown...seriously. |

Sharmaal, there used to be a Taco Bell many years ago, right next door to the building with the large advertisement of 50 cent on Michigan Ave across from Lafayette Coney Island. For some reason I do not know why they have torn it down. |

Good thing they did tear it down. I count myself among Taco Bell aficionados, but not in the freakin CBD (unless it were inside an office building). Would be nice if that one on Jefferson were a bit closer, though. There is also one down Fort St. I think. |

Yeah Gdub, put it in the Ren Cen, or on the first floor of an office building. Does downtown need two Jimmy John's and three Subway's but no Taco Bell? If so, that's not a world I want to live in... |

There is a Taco Bell down Fort street, but if you're gonna drive the mile or two you may as well head over to Mexican Town instead. |

What I'd really like to see somewhere down in the CBD is a CHIPOTLE. For the un-initiated, Chipotle is a burrito chain (started in CO, bought by McD's) that serves up some of the most fantastic, gi-normus burro's. F-ing great these things are. They have about a dozen stores around Chi-town. Seems to me the CBD and Wayne St. would be perfect for one of these outlets. Only caveat, they nearly never have drive-thru's, typically in a pedestrian type, walk-up location. |

Funny this question comes up today as I was going to start a thread on this subject. I have it on good authority that a Taco Bell (actually Taco Bell Express) will be opening Downtown relatively soon. I will try to get some additional details but I believe it is supposed to go somewhere on Monroe, not too far from Campus Martius. |

Neah - too much acreage for a Taco Bell (let alone a Taco Bell Express). |

A Taco Bell on the Statler site would first have to be approved by the Historical whatever commision to make sure it meets historic requirements for a Taco Bell on a historic site. If they try to proceed without approval, the commision will tattle on them and tell them in a very stern voice to stop. |

The Statler site isn't too much acreage... you'd just plop that double-drive-thru Taco Bell right in the middle, and put a nice decorative fence around the surrounding surface parking lot. They need a large parking lot because it will be so popular - after all, all those downtown office workers need to get in their cars and drive there for lunch. To give it a bit of Detroit history they will put a framed photo of the Reniassance Center from the '70's in the lobby. |

Aram is probably too young to remember the Taco Bell that was just off South University attached to the party store. Most disgusting place imaginable at 2 AM. Wading through the garbage was like walking in 10 inches of snow it was piled up so high. A friend of mine got attacked by a homeless guy that tried to steal his coat at that TB. Great place |

What's up, Michael? You felt like giving us complete list of every pizza place in A2 that you could name? Aram just doesn't like Taco Bell. Frankly, if I lived as close to Tio's as he does, I don't think I'd like it either. Hmm... That gives me an idea: forget about TB. Open another Tio's on the M-L site. That would be cool. |

A listing of all the pizza places I know in A^2 would take up too much bandwidth. I was just naming a few of my favorites from when I went on SSport like escapades keepin' it real in A^2. Often times, the last watering hole I was at or the weather dictated which late night food source I went to. Sometimes it was the Fleetwood. |

That storefront is now a semi-high class fast food Italian joint. It's on East U, not South U. I really don't get the late-night hunger pangs. But when I do, In 'N Out, the aforementioned party store, is where I head. Infinitely better than Backroom. Although I hear NYPD has a really good special after 10PM where you get a 10 inch pizza and a drink for 5 bucks or something. i'm going to try that sometime. I'm not a big Pancheros fan, though. Far too expensive. Big Ten Burrito is the best for that kind of thing. Tio's is kind of off the beaten path. Way too far away from where I am. And expensive. Michael, I heard recently the Fleetwood is closing. Is that accurate? I mean, it's the most disgusting and nasty restaurant I've ever eaten in, but they make one hell of a burger. An institution indeed. |

If the Fleetwood closes, it will be a sad day indeed. Not for the quality of food, but just the 3am people watching. Talk about a mix of people. I may have to hit it up for one last artery clogging experience. Anybody else remember getting milk shakes and a case of beer delivered to their dorm? |

Hmm... 83 spots @ $20 each = $1,660 per game. With 81 home games in the regular season, the Madison Parking Lot will bring in $134,460 in revenue. Add in the Lion's games and the rest of the year: total annual revenue (before expenses): $250,000 - $300,000. Yeah, that's much better than the $27 million hotel/condo project that would have gone there. But hey - jobs. Tax revenue. Who really needs those things? |
