I know the debate has already started, but here is some useful data brought over from http://www.lionbacker.com. This does not take into account future cuts from individual teams. Among some notable potential moves would be Phillip Rivers in San Diego and Patrick Ramsey in Washington D.C. IMO, McCown could be someone for the Lions to look at.

McCown wouldn't be bad, and probably wouldn't cost much. Pickings are slim. My guess is some team in better shape then the Lions will land Rivers. Based on that list, I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions kept Harrington and threw the job open for competition in training camp. Meanwhile, they can address their biggest need, a revamped offensive line. And I'll wait for the first Michigan fan/forumer to make the case for Todd Collins. |

Ewww... as bad as Joey was this year, I'd still have to say he was better than 95% of the guys on this list. The only two that stand out on that list are Drew Brees and David Carr as having something a little more. Perhaps we could trade for them but beyond that, free agency looks pretty bad for the QB position next year. |

We need Joey to renegotiate. If he's going to play like Trent Dilfer, we can't afford the +10 Million he's going to make. Roy Williams personifies the Lions. So much talent, yet never playing to his true potential. If he's a go to receiver, he can't be dropping passes all over the field. Cory Slesinger must go ! If you're carrying a fullback on your roster, and you don't feel confident enough to give him the ball at the 2 yard line to score, you're useless and dead weight. Adios iron head ! If we're going to lose all these guys to injuries every year, the Lions might as well scrimmage between games like real teams do. There's no reason to have walk-through practices since we already walk through most of the games. With Charles Rogers being one toke away from a year's suspension, how could any team rely on him to even be your # 2 receiver ? Adios Chuck ! |

I say David Carr, Doug Flutie, or Drew Brees. I am sorry if this sounds stupid, but if I were those good players, I would want to come to Detroit because you will most likely make more money, get alot of publicity, and you will have a chance to be the hero of a team. |

Out of the Carr, Flutie or Brees scenario, I don't think their respective teams would let Carr or Brees go. Flutie would be willing to go anywhere he can play but how old is he now? And would you trust him to be your starting QB at his age? My thought is that Joey will re-negotiate (his choice or not) and try to give a go at it here. Roy Williams still has faith in him (pretty vocal supporter actually) as does Charles Rogers. I think Charles Rogers will also have to re-negotiate his contract and have it ladened with incentive and out clauses all over it. My gut feeling is that if Rogers ends up leaving Detroit and going to another team, he'll come back and scorch us. All of these guys still have a tremendous up side to them and as long as Millen is here (and he will be... sigh), he's gonna live or die by them. |

Charles Rogers will be gone. If he gets his head out of his ass, he might end up being a decent player but the guy's a cancer. As for Flutie, please, the guy's got nothing left in the tank. And Goat, I think you have your Hasslebeck's confused, this is the benchwarmer married to the chick on "The View" not the Seattle QB. |

The best on that list for the Lions is Drew Brees. But I am pretty sure he is going to stay in San Diego. Actually, Joey is better than all of those quarterbacks on that list. Keep Joey, get vetern recievers who can catch the ball and are not afraid to go in the middle of the field and take a hit from a defensive back. |

Evelethcdenver might just have struck the nail on the head with the suggestion about having a veteran wide out here to help out the young receivers. Ever since we started drafting the slew of young receivers, no one has really taught them how to go about out foxing the other teams veteran DBs, catching the ball properly, and even on a more important vein-- how to behave on and off the field. Is it time to bring back a guy like Herman Moore to the fold somehow?? |

Millen will still be here too. Personally, I say forget about a QB, GM, and whatever else. This teams top 2 priorities is a coach that can teach discipline and an offensive line. Millen has brought in the talent if you ask me. The team just needs a line in front of them to block for both the running AND passing game. |

Yeah, too bad Millen orchestrated the current offensive line. As this morning's Detroit News reported, Jeff Hartings sure would have made a good long term keeper, as well as Mike Compton. |

If they are going for a veteran....John Kitna. If they are going for a younger guy....David Garrard. They would have to trade for him, but he at least has had some success starting in games that still mean something. |

I think the Packers are in better shape than the Lions. Their offense was decimated by injuries this year and they have a good pass defense. They just need to shore up their offensive line a bit and they can contend for the playoffs, but probably not a Super Bowl. |

Are you fogetting that this is one of the ONLY teams that the Lions literally kicked the shit out of at the start of the season? Something like 38-7. This was well before their injuries. Its ok, you can take it back if you want. haha |

Being a UW Badger from WI, the Lions can win all their annual games but two, as long as their season record is worse than the Pack's. Bret was planning on retiring today (so it was said all last week and today) but he had cancelled his planned press conference scheduled after the game today and it was later announced that Favre would not be present at the Packer's press conference tomorrow, where anybody on the Pack could participate. So it appears that Bret might not retire after all. All the Pack needs is one more effective OG for pass protection. Favre had way too many hurries this year, leading to sacks, fumbles, etc. Any one who happens to QB the Lions is in a similar predicament. Good show for Joey today! I think he'll be around as long as Millen is, and the Fords tend to stick with their people, even when they have losing seasons - which is nearly always. |

... Cant anyone see that if the Lions had an offsensive line, they would be a dominent team in the league? Our defense is good, and can improve... and our offense had all the tools it needs other than an offensive line that has been non existant. You wonder why we have a fullback that is never used, its because he has to pick up the damn slack for Kelly BUTT ler and fat stupid ass Raiola. Damien Woody isnt that great either... WE NEED to keep Backus... hes the only decent one on the damn team. If we draft a new line, some young kids that we can beef up... we might have a chance.. other than that, we need an offensive coordinator that makes only a FEW plays that everyone can accomplish in their sleep. Eliminating dropped passes... thats 3+ more wins right there (in terms of how dropped passes killed us). |

Steve Mcnair...he will probably be a cap casualty of the Titans. He still has some game left in him, although he has been injury prone of late. Most importantly though, he is mobile, which is a must because of the o-line. |

McNair might not be a bad fit in here but he's been about as fragile as wicker furniture as of late. And he'll be 33 next year. I wonder what kind of money he'll want if he'd even consider playing here. |

Ggg- The Texans have some sort of commitment to their young QB, David Carr already. I think they need a RB more so than another QB there. I know it'd be the sexy pick for them to go with but I think sentimentality is gonna go out the window & the team need is going to over ride the Vince Young pick. |
