I'm surprised no one posted this article yet (or did I miss it?). This could be a HUGE loss to the city and the state if Mr. Duggan doesn't swallow his pride and negotiate in good faith the the Medical School. This could potentially lead major losses for both institutions.

There is no doubt that there will be a resolution. These two institutions feed off one another, and the DMC's location and availability make Wayne all the better. It's Wayne that would be boneheaded and end up falling in the med and pharmacy school rankings if they severed ties.

Touchy subject.

I go to WSU-SOM and so I hear only the flip side of that article.

Not a prayer of such a break ever occuring. The DMC and WSU are intertwined in so many ways it would take all the assets of both institutions to pay the lawyers for 100 years to sever the ties. I think what your seeing in this article is the usual posturing which goes along with any important negotiations. (And yes, I've worked for the DMC long enough - 9 years - to have seen this sort of thing before.)

Good call, Kimmiann. My father works at the DMC too and is affiliated with Wayne. The lost of all the unpaid, yet so highly qualified, adjunct faculty that Wayne uses would be tremendous.

Yeah, this is just the usual posturing as each side jockeys for negotiating position. There is absolutely no way that the relationship would end. If you want to hear more, Robert Frank the interim Dean is speaking on the subject next Tuesday at 5pm at the Medical School.
