I noticed as I was waiting for my charriot (SMART BUS)by the Wayne County Bldg on my way in to school today, there seemed to be a whole lot of work going on at that building. I saw a scaffold hanging from the room along with what looked like forms partially around the roof. It kind of looks like they are attempting to restore the cornice that once adorned the roof line. Does anyone know exactly what they are doing up there?

The scaffold is still up? It's been up for a while now, I know the last time I ate there it was up and that was early October.

They've been waterproofing the building and roof. Although it does look like they are putting a cornice on it. I wonder if they will renovate the second and third floors, too?

The owner is restoring the entire facade including the replacement of the damaged cornice work. Unfortunately nothing is going to be done with the interiors of the upper floors. There are some access issues to the upper floor. Right now you can only access them through the restaurant.

The work is funded partially by the DDA facade improvement grant program as is:
New facade work on Murphy Building
New facade work on side of Marquette building
New cornice and cleaning of Cobo Joes building
new lighting and facade work on the building holding the Post and Six Pack.
Damn near every porject on Woodward that has scaffolding or work fencing

As long as the wings stay the same, I don't care what the outside looks like!

My apologies Skulker, I should have mentioned that because without it I'm pretty certain the owner would not be doing the work.
