MDOT has information about road closures over the next few weeks in the CBD. Read all about it at: http://www.mi.gov/mdot/ |

The no parking on CBD streets seems extreme. |

I think it's a good idea. How many actual metered spots are there in the CBD? 500 maybe? That's less than half of the number of spaces in the premier garage. It's well worth it to have most of the streets able to handle 3 lanes of traffic instead of 1-2, especially with all the road closures. Also, it takes away that option for people who circle the block 15 times looking for a street spot. If they know one isn't there they will go right into the garage. Smart thinking Detroit. |

The no parking on the street was done for security purposes. The same reason they're removing the Mailboxes. They want to reduce the number of places explosives can be hidden. This has become standard procedure for all national attention getting events. |

They didn't allow street parking in Albany for almost a year after 9/11. It's a bummer when you're just trying to get to work or the bar but I understand why they did it in this age of car bombs. |
