I didn't hear about the mechanics being taken, but one of the stores selling merchandise was hit last night.

Several weeks ago, the store on Adams was hit, too.

All it's going to take is a couple of random acts of "Detroit love" to un-do all of the good will and hard work that has been invested in this event.

VERY SLOW news day. This basically amounts to vandalism and larceny. I'm not trying to downplay the crime, but the only reason they're reporting on this is because of the Superbowl is in town and there is little to NOTHING else going on. They just want to say they broke a "story" this morning and flash the breaking news logo to get your attention.

That may be true but the slow police response is the story there. Typical stuff that has been going on since the late 70's.

We should tar and feather anyone who commits a crime in Detroit within the next two weeks.

What slow response? A cop noticed it. There wasn't an alarm system going off or anything like that. Besides smash and grabs like that only take a few seconds. It's as simple as walk up, throw rock, grab merchandise and run. The only way police could have stopped that is if they happened to be going by on patrol at that moment or had a cop posted in front of the store. I think it's a real stretch to blame this one on DPD.

Some people are just plain ignorant. Get a job like everyone else. Can't have nothing nice in Detroit.
