Wouldn't it just be simpler to call Carl's and ask. I'm sure they have a phone number. I don't know of anyone on the forum who's connected to them.

In 1959, jjaba had his Cass Tech. graduation party there. Glad to see it is still in business.
A great Detroit legacy, even though it is now in the shadow of a casino instead of a fragrant bakery.
jjaba, on the Grand River bus.

Nothing like a night of throwing dice and finishing off with some Carl's Chop House. My father would stop in at Carl's while walking the beat in that area for some good eats. They had a few tabels for reserved for Detroit's Finest.

That was nice. My information seems to be the most relevant Devinc has received in the 17 hours since he/she posted.

Carl's Chop House is 75 yrs. old. It was started by Carl Rosenfeld.

Here's some menu items:

Pickerel. Haddie. Frogs Legs. Sturgeon, Boston Scrod. Calf's Liver. Lyonnaise potatoes. Kogy Salad. Wing Dings. Relish Tray. Crab Claws. Sander's Hot Fudge Cream Puff.

And for Supersport and the FSC, the longest bar in Detroit at 64 feet.

jjaba, Proudly Westside.

Jtl. Yes, the phone book.
Recently, some old friends lost jjaba's phone number and wanted to visit. So they Googled me, then called my neighborhood association because they saw jjaba's name in the minutes of a meeting on Google. The president of the assn. gave them my number. jjaba is listed in the phone book but people with cellphones don't use it.

Sign of the times.
jjaba.

I've heard mixed reviews on the place, but every time people either love it to death or hate it, I've never heard an "It's alright."

Everytime I try to write off Carls for a disapointing meal, they come back with a home run. Still a great place.

Because Dodgemain needs a respite from Kowalski's Blood Sausages, kolachkies, and E&B beer.

jjaba, LOL.

File me under "love Carl's." You can take a bath in the martini and the relish tray is a total throwback!

My hubby and I have our wedding anniversary dinner at Carls every May 30th, have been doing so since 1987, when we got hitched.

His Best Woman treated us to the first celebratory meal there in 1987, and she has done so every year since then. I love Carls, I love that cow carpet, I love the filet mignon with mushroom gravy, I love the Manhattans.

Skipp, are you not our old friend Skipper?
In any case, you owe Leoqueen a drink for the misspelling.

Jjaba, you can't live on golumpki and czarnina everyday. Sooner or later its time for a prime rib. And Carls is one of the best.
