The Free Press reports that as of last night, police have started to ticket--AND TOW--cars that are parked on-street in the central downtown business district (bordered by I75/I375/Jefferson Ave. and the Lodge).

I don't have a link, but there are free park and ride shuttles from various locations in and around the city to the downtown area.

The signs were up this weekend that there was no parking starting today. Guess people will actually have to consider the posted signs for once.

Ramps and lots are fine, but you can't park on the streets anytime this week, period.

There doesn't seem to be a problem with parking along Broadway so far today.

They are only able to tow cars where they have posted the no parking police order signs. If it is not posted no parking you are still able to park there and not get ticketed, or so it seams

I will be taking the bus downtown on Saturday afternoon to enjoy the festivities... not much point in trying to park downtown.
