As I was coming home last from Windsor, I decided to go thru the tunnel so I could try to see some of Downtown. I know that there is extra security all over. Why aren't they checking cars BEFORE they cross the tunnel or the bridge. Everytime I cross the bridge, right before I'm asked for ID, there are these poles that check for Radiation that the car passes thru. ( I had a stress test, and set off the alarm, good thing the DR. gave me a note stating I had that test). Is there anything that checks BEFORE? |

QUOTE: "Everytime I cross the bridge, right before I'm asked for ID, there are these poles that check for Radiation that the car passes thru." Hubrez: I don't get what you are saying. You are asked for ID after you cross the bridge. If the "poles" are immediately before the customs inspection, you are being checked for radiation after you cross the bridge, and not before. Maybe the above is not what you mean? Could you explain it again? |

They don't check you on the other side of the bridge because it's a foreign country. The US has no right to check you until after you enter the US. |

Why aren't the inspection ( Radiation) done BEFORE you cross the bridge or tunnel. A terroist or crazy A$$ could set off something on the bridge or in the tunnel. Why is it being done after? |

There's been talk before of reverse customs, where you pass through customs BEFORE crossing over but I haven't really heard anything about it lately so I assume it's dead. |

It's been a while but I'd swear the bridge has reverse customs now. |

Without a change to the international treaties with Canada it cannot be done. It is a matter of international law. The US had no rights to conduct inspections of vehicles until the vehicle enters the US. A radiation scan of a vehicle is an inspection. |

There are no "reverse" customs inspections at either Windsor/Detroit crossing. |

ok, ok, I'm just having a hard time visualizing the customs station on the Windsor end of the bridge as in Canada - the look & layout of the traffic area sure didn't match the neatness of the custom officer's uniform |

Thru in IV, they inject a small doses of radiation. It stays in your system for a about 7 days. |
