Theres a really popular car show in Britain called Top Gear, it airs here (I think it still does anyway...) sometimes on Discovery. In the mid 1990s one of the hosts Jeremy Clarkson did a bit called Motorworld where he'd go around to all the motor capitals of the world and do a little piece on each one. I found this video where he did a biopic of Detroit. Its pretty interesting... he talks to Dennis Archer, Bob Seger and Martha Reeves, goes to some hotrod meets, and tries to explain why the city declined. Lots of good location shots of the Fleetwood plant, Brush park, Michigan Central, GM Headquarters (before they moved to Ren Center), etc. Has some historic footage of the riots and car plants too. Definitely worth watching. About 30 min. http://video.google.com/videop lay?docid=7330592681302528247& q=jeremy+clarkson+detroit |
