I biked or walked by myself 1 1/4 miles one-way for nine years - including kindergarten - until I went to high school. Then, that distance became a 15-mile commute into the city from the suburbs.

What's really happening in DPS is that adults are again using the kids as poster children in an attempt to keep teachers and administrators employed in a dying public-school district that is seriously devoid of funds.
