Who know with DETROIT. 4 years equals 8 in most cases.(I thinks amtrack and greyhound should lease the MCS from the owner.DETROIT could open the depot if they really tried. But not as a police station.)313 |

Detroit313, That's one of the more innovative uses I've heard. Use the depot as a depot! I go back to my original proposition for half the buildings that you want to save in this city...Seal up the top... and use the base floors for a salable product...build momentum. I'm sure that soemone would shoot that down on MCS ...so be it. Sorry about the hijack. |

Oh but it gets better. Not only could Greyhound move their DETROIT HQ there, but Amtrack could move some services there(if Greyhound commits) and add the new DDOT bus depot SMART and DARTA also. Have the entire regional service center all under one roof. Open a couple of small restaurants on the ground floor, and arcade for kids a fountain in Roosevelt Park, a parking deck and you have yourself the making of the largest transportation hub in the nation. Next the city and government could have a international gateway located there with quick access to Canada. Hey you could even take a train to Canada and DETROIT. I start a new tread and add A quick sketch next month if you would like to see my idea. I had it for years.313 |

You all know they broke ground not too long ago on the Rosa Parks Transit Center at Times Square, don't you? That takes DDOT out of any proposals, here. |

Detroit313, you're hired. Yes, that would be so great. One of the most clear voiced and smartest post I've read here in a long time. |

I think they are clearing the way for Don Barden and Michael Jackson's theme park. You know, the one with the big dome over it. |

1040 W Fort. Wasn't that once the IRS building? Here's another view of Sixth and Fort. (Message edited by livernoisyard on February 27, 2006) |

Good posting. This led me to the train station directory which hits close to home. |
