Why did they tear down the Statler when the Tuller property on Grand Circus Park has yet to be developed? Also, Is Grand Circus Park an area that is seen as having promise, or is it an area that will be difficult to develop because of the large park and the homeless who enjoy it?

I think they could have made the Statler look presentable to the Super Bowl attendees, and I really hope something is in the works.

I enjoy eating lunch in Grand Circus Park, does that mean I'm homeless?

It might Chris. Do you also stay for dinner then wake up and have breakfast there? Do you get ready there in morning?

"I think they could have made the Statler look presentable to the Super Bowl attendees, and I really hope something is in the works."

Wow-they could have maybe put some burgandy fabric awnings on it so that the super bowl attendees think it's open, and being used>

I love it: 8 replies, none answer my question. Let me try again. The Tuller sight or the Statler sight, is their anything on the horizon for either? I wasn't a big fan of dressing up the Statler for the Super Bowl, but at least there wouldn't have been a hurry to get rid of it. Personally, I think that would be a perfect place for the Greektown Casino. Of course, they would have to change the name to the "Homeless Casino."

Your thread title is as far as you have to look as to why nobody is responding to your question. Like the old saying goes, "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people that ask questions."

Your "stoopid" question about the Statler and Tuller "sights" will be answered if you try using the search function.

I see what you are saying. I guess I thought maybe there was some new news. I remember before Statler was torn down, their were different companies walking through it, trying to make a decision. Now it appears there isn't any movement. I will go to the search engine. I never had too much success there on previous topics. Does anyone remember when that church on Woodward was going to build a 25-story apartment complex that would've backed up to Comerica Park? The renderings were ugly, but the entire Grand Circus Park area is ripe for a density upgrade, in my opinion...

Not a stoopid question - the stupiditiy lies in tearing down irreplaceabele architecture for a one week event where overpaid grown men chase around a piece of pigskin. Put down the crackpipe, Detroit.

Who in their right mind would tear this down. Was there such a thing as CRACK in the early '60's?

OOPS! forgot that the pic is from Wayne State Database
