Review that gem. Does that not deserve some extra special recognition? Sure, it will get archived but it deserves so much more than just that. It screams out for more. Maybe some minor editing and its own website or a mention in the Detroit papers? I dunno. Blessyouboys innocently started it. Danny sparked the militaristic aroma. Wazootyman signaled the prophetic "Uhoh." Itsjeff fanned the flames throughout. Track75 sparked the first imagery. Hornwrecker's Baghdad Bob pic set the whole thing into motion (not to mention that turbaned LBP!) with Zulu_warrior carrying out all the heavy lifting throughout. Everyone contributed, even Lowell got a few good plugs in. Please, think of the kittens! Is there no way we can leverage this gem? |

I'll post here so as not to disturb the great thread that's going on. Is it possible to make this an "appendage" to the main thread for folks to post their comments without wrecking the Livonia war? This post has got to go down in several award categories. I nominate for the following: -Best satire -Best use of Photoshop -Best of DetroitYes -Best of the web (for at least a day or week at the minimum) -Best of Detroit (for all the various rags that try to claim the term as their own) I'm sure there's many more categories to submit it in. Anyone else think the idea was somewhat tasteless and insensitive considering the fact that there is a real war going on? Guess I am in the minority here. |

War, it's the American way! How dare you question a nation and region at war. You should be expelled from this country for such an unpatriotic statement. |

Pam, I can appreciate your concern. I took the thread as harmless fictional escapism from both the depressingly real Iraq war and the very real Detroit/suburbs bickering. If it helps, I very much agree with the sentiment expressed in the link you provided above. |

isn't there always a war going on somewhere in the world? art imitates life, and vice versa. |

I've been using it to learn Photoshop, other than fixing up old photographs. |

"Anyone else think the idea was somewhat tasteless and insensitive considering the fact that there is a real war going on? " Pam, I think that is the point of it. Humor is a reflection of anxiety. With the war we are stuck with one can only laugh or cry, not remain neutral or somber. |

I, a Livonia resident found 99% of it hilarious. The K.K.K. pictures, the Confederate flag and a couple of direct hits ( pun intended ) I could have done without. |
